  • (KJV) Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

"Come" is an offer; "whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely" assures that the offer is to anyone who wants it.

  • Calvinism is retarded.

  • As the song suggests; whosoever will 'may' come as opposed to 'shall'. Therefore, Jesus Christ has the final say. Salvation is Christ centred.

    By Christ Alone.

PS. No man or his actions or greatness is above Christ Jesus. Christ increased, man decreased.

    Whosoever will 'may' come.

  • Uh, why would the willing refuse to come?

Our will determines our choices. There's no such thing as being willing to do something but choosing to do the opposite.

You can only choose NOT to do something if you were UNWILLING to do it.

    The will determines the choice.

Plus, you need to consider John 6:37:

All that the Father gives me WILL come to me. Not "might" come to me. Every single person the Father gives to the Son WILL come to the Son in faith.

  • true, if the president invites you then you have permission to come to the whitehouse, but if not then you cannot go where you have not first been invited. otherwise you are in the wrong trying to go where you were not invited.

  • Whoever believes will certainly be saved!

The question is, when a man willingly believes, does God get the credit for it, or not?

    Calvinism says "Yes"

    Non-calvinism says "No"

  • As the song suggests; whosoever will 'may' come as oppossed to 'shall'. Therefore, Jesus Christ has the final say. Salvation is Christ centred.

    By Christ Alone.

PS. No man or his actions or greatness is above Christ Jesus. Christ increased, man decreased.

  • And "whosoever is also in 1st John:

"whosoever hates his brother is a murderer"

    Same phrase as "whosoever will"

this is NOT a universal offer...it's a statement.

  • Also,

The "whosoever" statement is so abused in scripture...there isn't even a word for whosoever!

It's usually translated from a phrase "the one who does the following"

    Like John 3:16:

    "...that whosoever believes in him..."

All that means is "the one believing in Him..."

It's a statement about a particular group; "the ones believing" not an offer.

  • Uh..is this video addressing Revelation 22:17?

Everyone is aware that that is not a verse about the offer of the gospel to unbelievers...it's spoken to a church; believers.

And the "whosoever will" is actually "the one who desires" "ho thelo" in Greek. It's not a universal offer, it's a statement.

  • (John 1:12, 13) "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

This song is true, but so is John 1:12-13.

  • It's hilarious that an Arminian would think that a Calvinist has never taken to note a verse like 'whosoever wills may come'. It makes me often wonder strongly if they have ever pondered Romans 3:11 in this regard.

  • Comment removed

  • Amen. I am a calvinist as well. And I must believe that "whosoever wills may come" because it's in the Bible.

  • Amen, I am a Calvinist and I love "whosoever will may come".

You gotta quit building these straw men against Calvinism and understand what it is before you try to critique it.

    Peace and Grace.
