sorry, I see you are using elements. Photoshop elements doesn't offer the option of adding a layer mask to a regular layer. It only has them on adjustment layers.
Great tutorial, but I would definitely scale those piercings down a bit, the bottom of the piercing would be at the bottom of your lip, those are like halfway down to her chin. I would also recommend using the dodge & burn tools instead of curves (if your aiming for a more realistic look).
@Bubbles2cute4u Photoshop is a program for editing photos and you get it at adobe.com. It is quite expensive though so if you are thinking of buying an editing program I would suggest starting with Adobe Elements.
I don't have that button you pressed at 1:58 and it's just painting black over the part i want to edit, i created a layer mask but i don't know what to do >_<. help!
@iwantarocketship That button at 1:58 creates the layer mask. I guess you figured it out since you say you created a layer mask. It is probably painting black because you are painting on the image part of the layer and not on the layer mask part of the layer. I did a tutorial just on layer masks, check that out.
@WickedScream666 If you hold down the ALT key and move the mouse to the line between the two layers, I think you'll see a symbol appear, then you can click and the two layers will be linked. Let me know if that doesn't work.
So i have Photoshop Cs3 and when I opened up the curves to adjust the "lighting" on the piercing it didn't have the little key that you have on Cs5; how do I adjust it on Cs3 to only adjust the lighting on the piercing??
hey, i have a problem if someone can help me. at 1:55 i pressed the button and selected the brush, but then it pained black on the picture, and i don't no what did i do wrong. i watched the video a lot of times but i cant figure out what i'm missing :( help me please??
@ammmyy100 Did you create the layer mask? It sounds like you are painting on the actual layer and not the layer mask. Do a search for "tutorvidcom layer mask" if you don't get how layer masks work.
I can't drag the image in :S
