@MrZkr123 they'll eventually will if they get the high speed rail system otherwise Caltrain will be gone forever.and you'll have to take the BART or the Bus.
I used to wait till I got between the crossing and detector at 11.2, that is if the train I was running had really good brakes or not, otherwise I would start earlier. Another technique was to use just dynamic braking, of course you needed to start braking early as well. There are only a handful of restrictive curves on Caltrain, the curve at 7th & Townsend (25mph), 16th St (40mph), Bayshore (65mph), Sierra Pt (70mph), San Bruno (60mph) and Millbrae (75mph).
@trainfreak101 I used to wait until I was between Angus and San Mateo Avenue to slow down on a baby bullet, then stand on it to get down to 60, with those newer train sets it is possible, older ones no you start earlier.
holy shit, thats fast

@rocketman5989 if you want to see how fast, check out the Amtrak Acela, the Acela is the fastest train in the U.S. it can reach 150 MPH.

i wish they could do 90. I know the engine is capable of speeds close to 110mph last time i looked it was 108. Hopefully soon they will be able to

terminatorfan1 3 years ago 2
79mph is the track speed speed at this area. ...
trainfreak101 3 years ago
yep
Danapeople 3 years ago
Northbounds reduce to 60mph for the curve under I-380, southbounds are accelerating out of the 60mph curve.
fjcaron 2 years ago
Yea ... they reduce speed about 10 seconds after they get out of the station
