None of the holidays celebrated by Americans is particularly "Christian" in nature, though they may have various Christian elements. Holidays are not expressions of theological purity, they are customs, and as such they express the diversity of our history-- and the whimsical, random nature of popular taste. The History of Christmas: Roman holiday- Saturnalia, a winter festival where men gave gifts to eachother. They would also get drunk, have sex with eachother and beat their wives. People would act so crazy on Christmas that the holiday was outlawed by the prodistent church 'till the 1800's.

Interesting that the original celebrations went on for 3 days. This Halloween was sort of celebrated for 3 days too, because Halloween being on a Monday, caused people to start Saturday...at least that's what I noticed where I live.

But the christians "Harvest Fest" isn't a celebration of halloween, it's an evangelical event to present the gospel to the lost on one of the evilist days of the year. Mathew 9:37, Luke 10:2, the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Harvesting seeds into the souls of the lost.

The funny thing about even the name, Halloween, or All Hallowed Eve, indicates it to be a hallowed, or holy evening. Should Christians be involved in that which is holy in pagan beliefs? Oh, and 'Samhain' is pronounced 'Soween", being Gaelic, and thus not particularly phonetic.

OK so im confused....I read that when Christianity came around, the priests didn't get rid of this holiday...As far as I understand it they just changed the name and added christian names. I'm a Pagan, and paganism is not evil, just different. I celebrate Samhain as a day to honor my ancestors. Levay has nothing to do with Halloween or Satan. Actually Levayan Satanism doesn't even believe in God/Satan. It's just something they utilize for shock value, and is really stupid. Now, as for Christians celebrating HALLOWEEN (Not Samhain, which I celebrate), since there really isn't any Christian elements to it, I don't see the point, unless you like to wear costumes.

This is so ridiculous. Who cares what the origin of Halloween was? By this logic, we should also not celebrate Christmas or Easter because they have roots in pagan religions. Columbus day and Thanksgiving are celebrating the Europeans that invaded north America and took it from the Indians, so maybe we shouldn't celebrate them either. Veterans Day, Memorial Day and the 4th of July are celebrating war. By the way, going to church on Sunday also has its roots in pagan religion. Get over it.

@nellieblossom I don't celebrate "Christmas" i celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus. (by the way, he was actually born in September.) And Easter. I don't celebrate that either. I celebrate "Resurrection Sunday". Hope this helps!

@JesusLovesYou1994 Really, we don't know when He was born, probably so that we didn't spend a lot of time in celebration of it, since the whole reason He came was to die-this is what we are to have a remembrance of, because it is in His death, not His earthly birth, that we have eternal life. But it may well have been around that time, since he was the Lamb of God, and this is around the time the Passover lambs were born.

the only thing I disagree with is not having a subsitute I see nothing wrong with TAKING BACK a day that belongs to the Lord every day is his and if pegans are going to celebrate on certain days like Halloween, Easter, and Christmas what better way to glorfy God then to turn those days around and lift Him up. These are also Holiday's that could be used to witness especially Christmas and Easter when more ppl who do not attend church will go for those two holidays.

I'm a Christian. In our country we do not celebrate Halloween, however the reason for these pagan traditions are used was because. At that time it was easier to make the transition from pagan to Christianity. I cannot believe YOU can be SO ignorant, when people celebrate these holidays they do it for fun. The churches are filled on Chistmas - When churces are filled does that mean that we are worshipping satan? no. What matters the most: The origin or the meaning for a different society?

Suggesting that there are at least two instances where mankind will be called up to be with the Lord. Rev. 11:15 states the sounding of the 7th and last trumpet. Rev 13 speaks about the mark of the beast. Rev 16 talks about the wrath of God poured out on the Earth. Then Rev. 19 mentions the marriage supper of the lamb. Either way, Jesus said to watch and pray, not debate on what only God knows.

"Rapture" is an English noun derived from the Latin verb rapiō, with a literal meaning of "I catch up" "or "I snatch." 1 Cor 15:52 says In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

What matters is not what we believe but what the truth is. Jesus said I am the way the Truth and the Life. I understand where you are coming from, I used to be very into the new age idea. Hell is not somewhere you go to "reign", it's somewhere you go to burn for eternity.
