I don't really find this song to be uplifting: It's about a guy who is in a screwed up situation... which in all reality is hopeless, ("Done more harm than good, Weight more than I can hold, Digging a hole to bury my soul") but he isn't giving up on trying... He can't give up, no matter how much he knows his efforts are in vain. Sounds like a relationship(Evident from beginning) It's actually a kind of depressing song... Telling a story of someone who is holding onto something he can't have...
