well, it's been a year since then, and I've gotten every SH solo album. let me just say that if you like this song, there's a lot in store for you. this dude's incredible. seriously
smoking weed definitely kicks down some walls and significantly effects how you listen to music, which in turn effects how you play and write music, and it's normally a positive effect, but isn't necessary to be a good writer.
Most of the grateful dead(aside from Jerry) stopped smoking bud and dropping acid in the early 70s.
There's a formidable acid movement in Japan amongst the electronic music crowd, though susumu predates this.
this is from the philosopher's propellor album btw (it's also called opus)
I only have the first two SH solo albums. They are good but this is otherwordly. I really love his P-Model stuff and I think I have everything he's done up to 1992. I like nearly all of it but all his stuff I've heard from this decade has been amazing. I agree with Kazuo but you know, it could be drug related ;)
Fury One, thanks for this great collection! Susumu is amazing at creating celestial atmospheres and elements that rhythmicly alternate in the song--instruments and voice!
one should not shame themselves or feel pity for others lacking to be open. deep inside any one of his songs they would like but they won't ever admit it b/c they conform. celebrate non-conformity ^^
It's like he's delved into some other world (not implying something drug related, but something FAR deeper then that) and wanted to share it with us all. Sometimes it is as if he is from another world.
@KazuoKiriyama666 I would have to say that Hirasawa has tapped into the essence of Japan to make this music. I could picture a samurai warrior listening to alot of his music! So this isn't from another world, it's from the spirit of Bushido. That's my opinion at least.
As a side note, you should pronounce the following in the song like this. I hope you all brushed up on your Japanese pronunciation. The hyphens indicate that you need to pronounce it syllable by syllable while still making it sound fluid. Listen to the song if you're wondering how to pronounce them.
oil isnt pronounced the same way. in the japanese language the "L" does not exist. so the japanese mearly pronounce it a ra ri ru re and ro. so it would be o-i-ru. and its also called engrish when the japanese cant pronounce american right.
because in some cases people can... im sorry if i made you angry... just some people can do it better than other people... but in Japan, and the japanese language, l doesnt exist. which is why in lion its engrish refrence is Raion.
Truth told, the japanese "r" sound is pronounced somewhere between an english R and L; just an interesting fact for people. So many people think its one or the other, but I spent many a session with my giggling Nihongo sensei getting the exact sound right.
There are over 159 different sounds used in speech around the world. We only use a little more than 80 of them in English, so there are plenty of sounds we just don't use for words; same thing for them. Takes practice is all. Its one of the reasons we have accents; no two languages use all the same sounds.
@Program61Lamza Japanese people are raised speaking Japanese, where they don't use the letter "L". It's like how English people might have trouble pronouncing the "ü" in German.

This is like the type of song that would play as you explore another planet, and discover that extraterrestrial life actually did exist.

@K4inan unless you're Grateful Dead perhaps. But clearly Mr. Hirasawa doesn't need any LSD...

They probably like Hannah Montana (Or Molli Cyrus) so take pride in that.

I know what you mean. I love this kind of music. I only feel sad that I can't share with a lot of other people. Maybe some day...

@EternalSoul175 yeah this isn't exactly the most commercial type of music around there. which is only a very good thing

平沢さんの音楽の中で、一番好きな曲です。
声帯制御も素晴らしいですが、何より歌詞が良い。
天界の、神聖で無垢な営みを想起させます。

Hrm. Why not o-i-ro? Sounds closer to English pronunciation of "oil" to me...
