  • I have 6 or 7 books on 8 1/2 rpm records. I believe these are put out by the libraries for the blind. I got these at a auction bur have been unable to play them. The records have two labels one in braille and one written..Would you be interested in them?

  • it would de very nice if you could find those 8 rpm records and make a video aboute them. i have never seen a 8 rpm record and i dont think ther are eny of those here on youtube.

  • I did just find the 8RPM flexible records at Retro Electronics so I will try and make a video of them soon.

  • @retrochad

    ok that will be intresting

  • Dude, I have that LP! That's one of my favorite LPs.

  • In case anyone is interested the song being played is "Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean".

  • he said lubricated!!!!!!

  • When I was small my folks got me signed up for the NLS talking book program. I had one of the plastic case record players. I listened to that and my tapes, I had a NLS 4 track player as well all the time. Books have always been good "friends" to me and I like them more than some people some of the time. :-) Can't wait for digital books to get here, my partner has a big clunky 4 track tb player and neither of us like how huge it is. Still love the TB program though.

  • it sounds like a cat being doctored without anaesthetic ! please no more !

  • I did not like the plastic junkers issed during the 70's. But I have the rare and newer combo units called the CT-1 which have a combo cassette and record TB player. Look at my vids under Blubberblink, my other Youtube user ID. I have one with the CT-1, and some with the old wooden "crates". I think the CT-1 and wooden TB players were the best they issued, plus the GE TB recorders were nice. I did not like the Telex klunkers much, soon to be govy surplus. Computer chips shall replace them.

  • Thanks for your comments...the cat really likes attention! She always seems to want to be with whatever I'm doing. Was the machine you saw like this or was it the plastic kind? I saw the plastic type at the salvation army but they wanted $20.00 for it and I just thought it was too much.

  • That's a classic! I saw a machine like that at a flea market before and thought it was odd how it had 8 RPM. It's neat to see it operate and play the piano music, and I like seeing the cute kitten cat!
