Before everyone screams at me that the Russian song has the same tune but different lyrics, why can't i read the comments, i'm so stupid, blah, blah, blah, i have heard the Russian original, but would like to hear THIS song, with THESE lyrics, translated into Russian and sung to the same tune.
YES!! Those were the days. OH....How we laughed and what fun we had. I remember listening to Mary Hopkins sing this song on the radio driving to a distination.....Those were the days.
Also: I would hear this song, in the background, of Oscars Drive-In Restaurant eating a hamburger and frenchfries....played on an old fashioned jupebox. Those were the days.

@ISRAELDOWN2022 I also grew up in Chicago listening to this song, very nice. This song is Russian original " the long road ", written by Boris Fomin, by chance my name is also Fomin, as my parents up in heaven now were Russian. Have a nice life, from Chicago ( summer ) and Miami ( winter ).
Oh God, how I do remember this song. It brings back so very many wonderful memories. Yes, it is easy to cry when remembering all that has gone and can never be brought back. It is a life passed by.
I was in my early teens at home in Wales. I made a freindship to last a lifetime, we could not have been closer if we had been brothers. We went through so much together as we grew, good and bad, though much more good whatever life through at us.
Years went by , I moved to London, we both started families. I would visit home . We would get together in the "TAVERN" and the years sliped back.and it was as "YEASTERDAY" again no differant at all , truly.
@MJDickson69 "Those Were the Days" is a song credited to Gene Raskin, who put English lyrics to the Russian song "Dorogoi dlinnoyu" ("Дорогой длинною", lit. "By the long road"), written by Boris Fomin (1900-1948) with words by the poet Konstantin Podrevskii. -wikipedia

This is a wonderful song. It takes me back to the sixties when I was a teenager full of dreams.
