Yes, the Russiam march song has the same tune too... in fact this tune acquired a sort of a "lefty-commie" angle ... maybe thats why it found a place in this movie. Farmland sold to evil industrialists et al :)
The words of the songs, the way they were sung, the movie's story line, the performance of its actors, made this film a timeless art move of the highest order. This movie in its entirety was"moving" in the truest sense. The folk dance and song sequences in it and in Madhumati were especially the best tributes to the rich aesthetics, joys and sorrows of India's honest, soil-bound peasant folks. Heartfelt thanks.
I salute to GREAT NANA DEY for this song

mausam beeta jaaye......................
apni kahaani chhod jaa
kuchh to nishaani chhod jaa

Not to be a schtickler, but the name of the movie is Do Beegha Zameen. Beegha is a unit of area often used in the Hindi heartland.

Salil Choudhury, the music director behind this iconic song was not above a bit of plaigarism. This song is inspired by the Meadowland by Lev Kipper

As per the info I had this was an adaption of a Russian march song. Could you please share some info on the Meadowland song?
