I had my liver transplant in Aug. of 2010, 10 months ago. There were complications with my surgery and was in the hospital for a month and had a second surgery after 20 days. It was 6 hrs (same as transplant) and was told as complicated as first surgery. I am doing well and my transplant coordinator says that it should last about 20 + years, I'm 51 so that's plenty.
Reading all these comments of poeple having tranplants is great not the illness but that we are all still alive, my transplant was in Feb of 07 love to see poeple Alive!!
I'm 24, I had a liver transplant on April 24th, 2004 at UCSF medical center. Had the same 24 hour timeline and i was blessed to find a donor liver just in time. I have no clue what they used to sew all the muscle and connective tissues in the abdominal area but i left with staple. I wear my scar with pride. As we all should.
i love my stitches and i love my bod.... \m/ .... i was the donor... everyone thought that i was crazy asking everyone to click my pics post ops...the first time i was awake after the ops in icu, my first words were, "Click a pic of mine, NOW"..... hahahaha...to hell and back...
My daughter had a liver transplant july 09 and her scar is just across her tummy not like the one shown...she is doing really well before transplant she was very poorply and is a twin...my daughter had her transplant 18days before her 1st birthday. please hold on to the hope if you are awaiting a transplant.
@ronwell438 man im sorry if this is really true. im a teenager at the moment and my mother is in critical condition with "end stage liver cancer" as they like to call it and im losing hope.
My 29 yr. old son died while awaiting a liver transplant in 06'. He was in the navy and it was caught w/a CBC.Come to find out he had autoimmune hepatitis. He lived for 6 yrs.,but, was sick most of it. He already had end-stage when he was diagnosed. He had just turned 23, He was home on leave a month prior and had no symptoms. I can't understand it. We we were in Pittsburgh awaiting a transplant when I was called in the a.m. and told he would die. I was alone w/him 6 hrs. until the end.Pain!
I had a liver transplant in dallas and the docters were talking about how the scar that liver transplants get on their stomach is like the mercedes symbol but instead of me having stitches i had a this type of vac thing that was connected to me to a machine i got my liver in 5 hours and i only had 24 hours to live i was in a comma and dident even know what was going on if any of you need inspiration from this surgery turn to your family -god bless
Are you referring to a patient who has been given a liver? If that's the case, depending on the patient, doctors, medications... You can go on living years after a transplant.
If you're talking about a patient who has yet to get on the list, or is on the list... I have no idea what the ratio is, in regard to time. I just know that there are lots of hoops to jump through to get on it.
well... to have a liver tranplat here in spain you have to wait so loguer that a lots of people dies before to get one.... but I belive you... I do not try doctors... no one on the earth...
@rosesxkill Hi, Meanwhile one year has passed after your liver transplantation. Are you feeling completely healthy, you can eat what you want and the medication you take against repelling the new liver make problem for you?
I had a liver transplant in Dec 08 and it went well. I had the same kind of scarring. It looks nasty but didn't hurt at all. My lower scar healed within a week but my vertical scar (just below the chest) took a long time to heal up normally and it had holes in it for about 2 months. But thankfully it's all healed up very well now :o)
may i know where you have your transplant? my fiancee may need a liver transplant in florida. how long you have been on the transplant list? hope you feel better and better everyday. all the best.
if ur sister had a liver transplant in june 08 then y she needs an other transplant. if posible can u please call me at
