@sylentknyte dude i recommend you watch wrestling videos from the year 1990 up til about 1993, wwf has never better than these periods, goosebumps galore with this shit man!!! this was the original feud of all feuds, for eg. a feud evryone wanted to see like the bret hart/ shawn micheals, rock/ stone cold type feud, it was the first of its kind, the whole world wanted to see hogan get his arse kicked by the warrior at this time. shame they never had more than one match though dude.
They even booked this to the Warrior's strengths...he hits the ropes 6 times in a row and they managed to handle it in such a way that no one noticed that that's all he was doing.
@EGarrett01 That's right. I think this was a clever way to build and keep momentum without one wrestler dominating the other. The '2 equal forces' theme continued in their amazing match at Wrestlemania 6. As for this moment in Royal Rumble 1990, I still mark out and get goosebumps and, for once, Tony Schiavone sets the scene up marvellously; "Hold on to your seats!"
@goomba1982 Ha ha, 1990 was not a good year for The Rockers. Both performed terribly at the Rumble (less than 2 minutes each), lost to Orient Express and Power and Glory in subsequent PPVs and then performed rather averagely at The Survivor Series. 1991 was a better year for them before the breakdown.
Everybody in the crowd standing at 0:20. This is the payoff you get when you actually take time to build story lines. It was an epic moment because the fans were waiting to see it for so long. You won't see the likes of this again.
This wasn't even close to the "best" feud of old school WWF. Hogan vs. Piper, Andre Orndorff and Savage were exponentially better. Savage vs. Steele/Steamboat was far better. The Hart Foundation vs. The British Bulldogs were better. This really wasn't a feud, it was a mechanism to put the belt on the Warrior so Hogan could take time off for personal reasons and other projects - which is why they never had a rematch and didn't tour (draw money)
That was an epic moment. It's like the Rock meeting Stone Cold for the first time with both of them at the peak of their powers X 10. Never been a moment like it in WWF/E.
As a kid watching Hogan vs Warrior or any of their promos were awesome now fast forward 20 plus years later and these two old men going at it... LMFAO
Hogan says that Warrior was the worst wrestler ever well Hogan, newsflash you ain't a good wrestler either... Your promos were awesome but you suck as a wrestler... You're like the John Cena of today... You're cool to watch on TV but so damn OVERATED!
@jkyle96 wow u was at wrestlemania 6 Hogan V Warrior wasnt that? man when I was a kid that was best fight ever probably is till this day...I really wanted Hogan back then lol
@tsaleh88 u should see the whole rumble man, I would like to reveal this to you but better if you found out. Just to inform you this was the beginning before these two collided in WMVI.
Man talk about a build up! See this is what wrestling lacks now, the build up to great match ups and how to build a story line. And the lack of creativity! Some of the things Vince and Co. tried back in the old days were craptastic, but at least they were trying to be creative. I mean how many Diva searches and "Ladder in the Bank" matches can you do?
@LittleLeeHere Actually, the finalists of the '90 Royal Rumble were Hogan and Mr. Perfect (#30). This moment was about 48 minutes into the 58 minute-42 second match.
OMG!!That was simply way too freaking funny!!For no apparent reason both Warrior and Hogan started running criss crossing each other!!LMAO INDEED!!Kinda like Bart and Lisa Simpson spiing their arms around saying "if any part of me hits you it YOUR fault!"LOL!!
if anyone deserved to win the royal rumble that never won its the ultimate warrior and it should have been this year think about he went to win the WWF title at wrestlemania anyway and it was around this he was always clotheslining andre the giant over the top rop in various bouts especially on the house show circuit where he'd retain his I-C title via DQ/CO so it should have came down to warrior eliminated andre to earn his #1 contendership
I'm really tired of everyone saying that the WWE today is bad. It's not. You're just upset that it's changed from what it used to be. Sure you don't see this today. Back then it was all about the timing and show INSIDE the ring. Look at how both Hulk and Warrior are perfect in their synchronization. Today I would say more emphasis is placed on the entertainment aspect. So what? It's still a good product and worth watching. So remember this unbelievable moment and enjoy the memory.
@TR1GG3RSERIOUS Well considering today its call World Wrestling ENTERTAINMENT, you're right. We're all just pissed cuz when we were kids it was more about WRESTLING than Entertainment.

@HellhammerSS Thats what I think also... People can only take soi much of Cena winning every match...Cena even wins the matches that dont even involve him its pathetic these days..
You just CANNOT fuck with the WWF at this point in time, it was epic!
It just had everything the WWE is missing now! I remember it so well, I was going mental when just the two of them were left, I was so excited and was trembling with anticipation!
Lets face it, the WWE now just isnt a patch on what it was before.
So many Giants of wrestling back in the day, whats happened to wrestling now?
I miss those days, I wish WWE/Wrestling as a whole could get back to those dizzy heights :(
Ultimate Warrior was my favotire wrestler at that time. I miss him in the wrestle mania WWF. He gto the intensity crowd, the power, speed and body and he's fast thats what i like about him.
@jamielowndes My cousin was there live and he said the crowd was absolutely dead for that moment and Punk/Bryan got a way bigger reaction. Just tells you how big of "stars" Cena/Orton are today.
@RSXemperor Its not that they arent stars, but they had a HUGE feud in 2009, and we've seen enough of Cena vs Orton for a while, yet the WWE still think its this Hogan/Warrior, Rock/Austin kinda deal.
@jamielowndes you forgot something: warrior and hulk match was a superhero feud, kinda like a batman and spiderman feud, unlikely, but it happened. Wrestling nowadays is all about bitches, sex, talking, swearing and belt that anyone can wear for fun.... Sorry, No disrespect intended but that's the truth.
@onetv1channel Thats not true at all. Wrestling in 2011 is just as or even more tame than wrestling in the '80s. Youre thinking of the attitude era which was 97-02 and there was a bit of attitude from then to 2007 or so.
@mikej690 Ah, stick it, brother. Hogan and Warrior both hit the pinnacle of their business. They made more money than probably the next 40 guys combined. They were/are both able to live comfortably (at least til Hulk's divorce) and support their families. And Warrior was able to walk away from the industry witih no regrets, and not have to grovel before slimy Vince McMahon for a job. Hulk also was able to set his own agenda and work when he wanted to and not be a servant to McMahon.
The modern era I guess is suppose to target just kids ... the "Attitude" Era targeted more of an adult audience (despite selling toys)....but, this era here targeted both! this was entertaining for kids as much as it was adults. A full generation has now passed since this took place.
I was about 9 years old when this happened. I was with my brother and we watched it at our cousins house. Man, all of were so glued to the tv when that moment happened. I was pissed when they criss-crossed in the ring and double clotheslined each other. YOu're right, that was the golden era, the rock' n roll wrestling era. This is crap what i am seeing on TV today. Its garbaggggggeeeee!!
Actually there was a hint of this face off from Hogan himself when he appeared on the Brother Love show shortly before the Rumble. He started to say something about the Warrior, but Brother Love interrupted him to talk about Earthquake (who Hogan was feuding with). Very good and subtle way of starting the Hogan/Warrior showdown...
That double clothesline looked/sounded like it hurt. But yea, as much as I respect Bret and HBK, they couldnt hold Warrior's and Hulk's jock. Certainly Bret and HBK are more athletic and all, but it's not all about that. Bret didnt have the charisma, Shawn was a little twerp, and they didnt leap off the screen (unlike Warrior and Hulk) until Vince backed them like crazy.
The WWF is the only company that could build up 2 mega stars simultaneously. Hulk Hogan & Ultimate Warrior, Stone Cold & The Rock, Undertake & Shawn Michael's, HHH & Bret Hart, the list goes on and on.
@maxpower789z Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior was a main event at Wrestlemania VI. Bret Hart and HHH are top tier performers who rivaled in 96-97.
@maxpower789z Naa, get the facts straight, at the time of this, Bret Hart was apart of the Hart Foundation, and his main thing was tag team. Warrior and Hogan were THE Superstars of this time. HHH wasn't even thought of yet.
No-one would go ''NUTS'' over anything these days coz everybody has faced each other millions of times on TV and PPVS. It's understandable really because WWE does twice as many house shows and TV than they did back in 1990 but it's still shit. Imagine Hogan and Austin as the 2 in the rumble or Cena and the Rock.
@adamweishaupt81 True that, kids watching this. THIS was when wrestling was actually considered "real" as cheesy as that sounds. Wrestling is all fake, and the WWE admits to it nowadays. Back then, this was it, the WWF Champion actually meant something. The WWF Champ received the same respect and honor that the Heavyweight Boxing champ received. Nowadays people laugh at the concept of the WWE Champion.
@adamweishaupt81 hmm.. i dont think kids will watch a video (that old) they'd rather watch john cena get battered and get up having no marks, scratches or anything
@adamweishaupt81 two best eras this Golden era which I was just born, but do enjoy watching, and the Attitude Era which I grew up watching and truly miss, this PG era is for the birds
now that was the first time they fought each other, I was waiting for a long time to see this and when it happened... yeah bb. the most favorite super heroes of WWF against each other.
@RavenMichaels For me...I was a kid when this happened, and the moment you realized that Hogan and Warrior were gonna lock up was like a dream. It was one of the most exciting moments and none of us expected to see these two go head to head any time so it was even more powerful...but then...to sell the PPV, they did the "look, they're equal" thing. The crossing was gay. Would have been so much better if they just started throwing wild looping punching and attacking eachother like animals.
@xraycat30 I think the "Look they're equal" thing was the only way to go. Remember, this was classic golden age WWF. Good guys didn't go nuts on each other and act like wild animals then. Plus you had to show in a very visual way to the fans these guys' equal power. This is more for UW's benefit, so the fans know that this hot new upper midcard guy is just as powerful and invulnerable as Hulk. The criss cross was OK, more of a relic of time gone by.
@peterp21 I hear what you're saying but still...it's really funny. At 1:06...why wouldn't Warrior just drop a big splash on him like he spends so much time setting guys up for?
By far the greatest Royal Rumble moment ever. Jesse Ventura announcing of this was spot on and the fans enthusiasm was incredible. This is when the WWF/E was awesome. Now it just suck.
This was a huge deal back then. Faces didn't fight each other often. Not without one going bad. They were rarely even in the ring together. so for this mini dream match up to come about it was a really big deal. Just a surprise what if scenario. We fought at school about this topic for real then to have it just pop up in the middle of the royal rumble. It was awesome ! I about broke my neck jumping on the ocuch during this fight ! LOL
why didn't anyone say to warriorl.... "Listen Brian, you should really use a different brand of face paint, this one just isn't lasting the match"... Legion of Doom never had this problem!
Ooooooo men I remember seeing this Royal Rumble live, when these 2 were all alone I remember I was jumping, screaming and shouting.....not like the crap is the wwe today
@imperialpod Nothing bigger! I love how these "smart fans" keep comming on old videos talking about how the "ring work" sucks. This stuff was killer back then & has yet to be topped. The wrestlers & the fans today just don't get it.
wicked!! i wonder why you cant get that kind of magic anymore with the wwe?
i think its because back then the big names never meet up in the ring. you had maby 1 fight at the end of the show that were 2 big names. all the other fights were someone like mr perfect vs a nobody. now you see the same plp fight each other over and over
Listen to that pop! This was the first test right here to see if anyone would wanna see the 2 main babyfaces in the WWF square off, and the crowd went nuts. I was 6 when this happened and I loved it man. To me this was one of my favorite matches of all time, I know actual wrestling fans don't really like Warrior and Hogan, but hey I loved all this shit when I was a kid.
not in my 30s but late 20s i remember all this very well but mid to late 90s was the best nwo the rock stone cold steve austin best times this was great too dont get me wrong
Shawn Michaels was so great as the average classic superstar back then as a ROCKER. The fact WWF made him #1 through all these years shows the lack of talent they now have.
@nicelemon2 so what you are saying is shawn is really not that talented as a marquee player it's just that WWF/E just can't get anybody to carry the ball is that what you are saying??
@romans52345 Shawn Michaels is a GREAT wrestler but the WWF has lost a lot since the late 80s / early 90s. Which is cool gimmicks, cool persona's, great story telling and face paint. This "in your face attitude", with black ropes, no gimmick white dudes with buff bodes and no persona is a joke to the early WWF days.
Tony Schiavone always sounded like he should be calling a bingo game instead of a wrestling event.

Bret didnt have the charisma, Shawn was a little twerp, and they didnt leap off the screen (unlike Warrior and Hulk) until Vince backed them like crazy.

dis shit is the same shit that batista and cena did

The WWF is the only company that could build up 2 mega stars simultaneously. Hulk Hogan & Ultimate Warrior, Stone Cold & The Rock, Undertake & Shawn Michael's, HHH & Bret Hart, the list goes on and on.
Mase379 1 year ago
@Mase379 HHH and Bret? Hogan and Warrior? Think you got your timelines a little confused
maxpower789z 1 year ago
@maxpower789z Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior was a main event at Wrestlemania VI. Bret Hart and HHH are top tier performers who rivaled in 96-97.
Mase379 1 year ago
@Mase379 Yeah, but Hogan and Bret were beyond well cemented stars by the time Warrior and HHH showed up
maxpower789z 1 year ago
@maxpower789z Naa, get the facts straight, at the time of this, Bret Hart was apart of the Hart Foundation, and his main thing was tag team. Warrior and Hogan were THE Superstars of this time. HHH wasn't even thought of yet.

No-one would go ''NUTS'' over anything these days coz everybody has faced each other millions of times on TV and PPVS. It's understandable really because WWE does twice as many house shows and TV than they did back in 1990 but it's still shit. Imagine Hogan and Austin as the 2 in the rumble or Cena and the Rock.

the crowd just went nuts when these two got in there on their own, if Cena and Wade got in the rumble on their own, the crowd would fall asleep!!

@Rinkin316 why wade. If it was Cena and Orton people would go crazy.

That was the golden era of wrestling, kids.
adamweishaupt81 1 year ago 59
@adamweishaupt81 True that, kids watching this. THIS was when wrestling was actually considered "real" as cheesy as that sounds. Wrestling is all fake, and the WWE admits to it nowadays. Back then, this was it, the WWF Champion actually meant something. The WWF Champ received the same respect and honor that the Heavyweight Boxing champ received. Nowadays people laugh at the concept of the WWE Champion.

@adamweishaupt81 Yes sir! Nothing compares...

@adamweishaupt81 hmm.. i dont think kids will watch a video (that old) they'd rather watch john cena get battered and get up having no marks, scratches or anything

jwb864 1 year ago
LOL, I know. This was a great moment overall, but the cris cross thing was really stupid...
RavenMichaels 1 year ago
@RavenMichaels For me...I was a kid when this happened, and the moment you realized that Hogan and Warrior were gonna lock up was like a dream. It was one of the most exciting moments and none of us expected to see these two go head to head any time so it was even more powerful...but then...to sell the PPV, they did the "look, they're equal" thing. The crossing was gay. Would have been so much better if they just started throwing wild looping punching and attacking eachother like animals.
xraycat30 1 year ago
@xraycat30 I think the "Look they're equal" thing was the only way to go. Remember, this was classic golden age WWF. Good guys didn't go nuts on each other and act like wild animals then. Plus you had to show in a very visual way to the fans these guys' equal power. This is more for UW's benefit, so the fans know that this hot new upper midcard guy is just as powerful and invulnerable as Hulk. The criss cross was OK, more of a relic of time gone by.
peterp21 8 months ago
@peterp21 I hear what you're saying but still...it's really funny. At 1:06...why wouldn't Warrior just drop a big splash on him like he spends so much time setting guys up for?
xraycat30 8 months ago
By far the greatest Royal Rumble moment ever. Jesse Ventura announcing of this was spot on and the fans enthusiasm was incredible. This is when the WWF/E was awesome. Now it just suck.
Chauncey1966 1 year ago 4
This was a huge deal back then. Faces didn't fight each other often. Not without one going bad. They were rarely even in the ring together. so for this mini dream match up to come about it was a really big deal. Just a surprise what if scenario. We fought at school about this topic for real then to have it just pop up in the middle of the royal rumble. It was awesome ! I about broke my neck jumping on the ocuch during this fight ! LOL

Damn right.
Few superhero movies or TV shows, Mike Tyson out of the picture and these guys stepped up to the plate.
For a brief moment in time there was nothing bigger the Hogan vs Warrior.
imperialpod 1 year ago
@imperialpod Nothing bigger! I love how these "smart fans" keep comming on old videos talking about how the "ring work" sucks. This stuff was killer back then & has yet to be topped. The wrestlers & the fans today just don't get it.

wicked!! i wonder why you cant get that kind of magic anymore with the wwe?
i think its because back then the big names never meet up in the ring. you had maby 1 fight at the end of the show that were 2 big names. all the other fights were someone like mr perfect vs a nobody. now you see the same plp fight each other over and over
vteca 1 year ago
It would have been better if they had locked up first then shove each other.

Shawn Michaels was so great as the average classic superstar back then as a ROCKER. The fact WWF made him #1 through all these years shows the lack of talent they now have.
nicelemon2 1 year ago
@nicelemon2 so what you are saying is shawn is really not that talented as a marquee player it's just that WWF/E just can't get anybody to carry the ball is that what you are saying??
romans52345 1 year ago
@romans52345 Shawn Michaels is a GREAT wrestler but the WWF has lost a lot since the late 80s / early 90s. Which is cool gimmicks, cool persona's, great story telling and face paint. This "in your face attitude", with black ropes, no gimmick white dudes with buff bodes and no persona is a joke to the early WWF days.
nicelemon2 1 year ago
@nicelemon2 so are you saying that "the Attitude era" was shit??
romans52345 1 year ago
@romans52345 Not all of it but it's just a twinkle of greatness compared to the Hogan, Warrior, Macho Man, Bret Hart era.
