hey, have a question for you, how does the o-ring increase the tension of the extractor? Does it simply get smashed in-between the hinge action, which in turn prevents the spring from being to easily compressed/ compressing too far... or is there something i missed?
@boxdoutfoot you pretty much summed it up lmao. Its not that complicated, It causes the back end of the extractor to be raised more than a standard spring would which causes more tension on the opposite end of the extractor.
Also what's often overlooked especially with SBRs, is the correct diameter gas port in the barrel. Many companies overlook this important tolerance. AR15 SBRs in general are over-gassed so the H2 or H3 buffer and SOMOD extractor upgrade is needed to ensure correct lock-time and reliability.
@JonnyC308 I am currently running an H3 buffer. That was actually the first thing I switched out when the rifle was malfunctioning but it didn't help. I tried a standard H buffer and still got FTEs so I installed the o-ring and switched back to the h3 buffer and its been fine ever since. I started running better quality ammo through my sbr and from what I have learned is the buffer weight choice should be dependent on the type of ammo you run.
Great vid man! Love the quality of the Canons. Can't go wrong with the T3i. Take a look at MagicLantern 3rd party software and you can enhance the videos in so many ways. Congrats on the new camera! The picture quality is awesome.
@chanderson1 Thank you sir, I have been playing with a trial version of after effects. I really like the twixtor plug in. I'm still trying to get the slow mo effect down. I wanna try to use it to create some type of intro for the videos.
Thanks man! It's easier to install than I thought. I thought the o ring had to be placed at the base and the spring had to be removed. I was over thinking the whole process.
just got a t3i myself.. awesome!

@trancestar101 blue inserts are for rifle length gas systems. if you run a carbine, switch to black

I have a MGI D-Fender and a Wolff Extra Power Extractor spring coming in from midway. I hope this solves my intermittent extraction problem
hugo2x 1 month ago
@hugo2x sounds like overkill. try the spring alone first.

I was wondering the same, thx for posting.

Ive been running one in my 16", its probably overkill, but the thing would pull a freakin train out of the chamber. Never had a FTE.

@NIKON777 Yup, doesn't hurt to throw one in there for peace of mind.

@datzitteezy Yeah its pretty easy man. That O-Ring just gives it even more tension.
