    my ielts scores are: Listening [4.5] - Reading [4.5] - writing [3] :'( - speaking [5.5] - overall [4.5]

every things are gread to me only the writing is disappoint me!

the writing was about: are you see when grandparent play (minific role) for bringing the children is bad things or good?(am not sure about the topic i can't remember wt the Q Exactly)but my problem was with the "minific role"!

  • @VT00004 sorry i means every things was great** not gread :P

Tasks one was better than tasks 2, and i did well in, I was like "what the minific role!!", because my main language is Arabic and i don't have enough words or info. about the game or whatever in English world, i understood every thing only this two words i donno what they meaning about. Now I cant enter the college to complete Bachelor degree, because they want the overall band 5 and i brought 4.5 =)

This is in regard to the IELTS video being posted on you tube, in which there is a minor typo present in in your post.

At 9:21, the heading says: IELTS INFORMAL LETTER.But I think it should be

Could you please do the amendments to the post at your soonest convenience , so that the information is correct.

I hope this matter deserves your immediate attention.

  • Very good explanation! She has an excellente didatic! Congratulations for the video!

  • Do I need to put period ( . ) after the titles?

( Mr , Mrs , Ms , Miss ) And do I need to put a comma after the name or family name?

  • Hi 123BIQ

There are two styles, with or without periods, and with or without commas.

The main point is to be consistent, whichever style you follow.

  • was your bulding in flames ? hehhehee

    i´m kidding

    very good video

  • Hi rodrigorodrgues2009

No, we were cool, actually, but Toronto is hot!

  • thanks for posting this video. i want to prepare for ielts and i cant join a college. i am tryin to prepare with the help of videos. can anyone plz tell me if i could get some books for ielts preparation at home?!?!?!

  • Great video.

I'm being taught writing letters in a college and the rules you explained are a helpful reminder.

    Question:

I learnt that you have to use "Yours faihfully" in a formal letter, but only to British companies.

In case of American companies you always have to use "Yours sincerely".

Did you mention that in another video?

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, the IELTS is created by the Univ of Cambridge, so it does contain more British English. You are right about that.

However, when you write your answers, you can choose American or Bristish spelling patterns and expressions. As long as you are consistent throughout your writing, and stay with one style or the other, you're fine.

  • Actually, the style you choose depends on various factors, including the style and personality of the company you work for, and where the company is located. Yes, it is true that in the States, "Yours sincerely" may be used more frequently; however, "Yours faithfully" is also acceptable.

    Thanks for paying attention!

  • I ask the same question !!!

  • Thanks a lot for teaching the correct way of writing different type of letters. ATUL MOHAN

  • You're welcome, Atul. Glad it helped,

  • Dear madam, You lost your punctuation- comma( , ) after dear sir/madam.The time is 3:11.

  • Actually, there are different ways of writing, which are correct and acceptable.

In the modern style, you can leave out the comma after the opening salutation, like 'Dear ___' - but then you must also omit the comma after the closing , such as 'Yours sincerely' .

Or else, you add the comma in both places.

  • ^.^ thanks~
