You are all idiots BMW has never claimed full offroad capabilities. And this isnt nor has it ever been a 4x4, there is a huge difference between an AWD car or SUV and a 4X4. There are only a few real 4x4 vehicles and toyota owns 3 of them, the others are Jeep, Landrover, HUMMER. The rest are pretty much worthless offroad/real offroad not a dirt path or dirt road. Most 4x4 trucks cannot do what a 4x4 should do.

My 80 Grand X5 Xdrive 35D is never gonna go off road like this, It tows my race car, my boats and my motorcycles in comfort. The X5 is made for Onroad 4x4 performance anyone who would think its weak certainly cant afford or never will have one. PS my Diesel turbo 6 gets 30 mpg at 110mph too. Being proactive on your lame replies, its American Spec and I live in Germany. Hooah

Look a bit closer, the wire is taught at times. FWIW, the X5 is far from a benchmark in offroad prowess. While not the worst, I'd put the VW Touareg well ahead of an X5. Add to that most landrovers and if you want to stoop a bit, the grand cherokee.
