There are lots of opinions about the singers. I liked From Afar because of the songs in a general way, not just because of Petri. All albuns are great, Ensiferum is a very good band at all. Jari can have a great vocal range and sing with clean vox, I like Petri's style too.. The both of them are great singers and the band is great with Jari or Petri. I like the band, not the singers.

Ps.: May the Jari fans forgive me, but I really prefer Petri in the vocals and in my opinion, the best Ensiferum album is From Afar, and the second one, Victory Songs. Jari is a very good player and singer, that's true, but I think that Petri fits better in Ensiferum.

There is no forgiveness in my eyes. From Afar is the worst album, then dragonheads, and then Victory Songs. The best are on the same place Ensiferum and Iron.

Jari has greater vocal range, his voice is more powerful, he can sing with clean vox, Jari doesnt screw up the lyrics live. I still like Ensiferum but i miss the old style like hell.

@aexalven Man everyone makes mistakes. I saw ensiferum last weekend in nyc and they nailed everything and put on a great show. I wont say one is better than the other because i honestly think they are on the same level. Plus Jari was not the creative force behind the band and thats probably why he chose wintersun over ensiferum. I'm not trying to say your wrong but from Afar is FAR from being a bad album.

If you see Ensiferum more Northerish then im sad, this band is sinking. I liked old Ensiferum more for both music and vocals. New music in more power metal than death metal.

The only song Ensiferum has which is blatantly related to vikings and Norse Mythology (as far as I know) is "Dragonheads". The rest of their songs, is based on the Kalevala (probably spelled wrong), and finnish folk lore in general.

The reason she left:

Ive now reached the moment in my life when I need to stay out of the battle. Its time for somebody else to take my place in Ensiferum. These almost 6 years have been totally unforgettable but also rough. After giving my absolutely 100% to this music, playing and shows I now feel exhausted but happy; it has been worth it.
