Exotic pets like chameleons, sugar gliders, and foxes are okay because they are small. Size DOES matter when you choose your pet. Even horses are potentially dangerous (ex. you get kicked in the head).

in my opinion, the woman is at fault. wild animals do not belong in private homes. they do not have the same mentality as most typical house pets do. also, it's really not fair to them, even if they never attack. keeping them caged is no way for wild animals to live. they should be running around in their natural habitat. obviously, there are some exceptions to this, like if they are being poached & need rescue, or if they need to be treated for injury, but eventually they need freedom.
You can own this animal since it's birth, this kind of animal can know you for it's WHOLE life. But one thing will always stay true about it ; You can take the wild animal out of the wild but you can't take the wild out of the animal.

Measure the space between the center of your left eye to the center of the right eye. More to the point, measure the distance between the left orbital socket of your skull to to the right. Now take the measurement of the space between a leopard's upper right canine to it's left. If they're similar it's probably not an accident. Now imagine a leopard sinking it's canines through your eyes into your orbital sockets to get a firm grip of your skull. Now imagine wanting a leopard as a pet.
It is really sad that people still insist on owning these animals as pets. I don't like that the animal had to be killed, but sometimes these things have to be done when people make bad choices. I hope this doesn't sound too awful, but at least it did not happen to someone who was just passing by. I mean when you own these animals you knowingly put yourself in danger. It is another thing when they attack people who have nothing to do with it.
If my 7 pound house-cat suddenly extends it's claws to grip my hand and give me a nearly pressureless bite while seconds earlier it was purring as I scratched it's neck then I'd hate to think what a 21 pound, wild, big-cat could do. My advice - get a domesticated house-cat, and whatever it does, just amplify and multiply it 10 times over then one will see these big cats will just swat the good sense back into you that they don't make good pets.

@Crystals246 I don't mean offend, but that really isn't true. Many rescue agencies will not take in a dog that has attacked someone. One near my home won't even take dogs that are thought to be violent like Pitbulls. Animal rescue places put the dogs through a behavior assessment as well to find out the the likelyhiid of another attack. I agree that the animal should be humanely euthanized, but if the animal is in the process of an attack and cannot be subdued, I don't see that as an option.

Leopards are the most agressive big cat. Because they're smaller they have to be meaner to defend themselves and their young from hyenas and lions. They have a reputation for messing hunters up bad which is a good reason to just leave them alone in the wild.

I saw this show about tigers today. where that lady had to of them and raised them in her house. and when it killed her and they came to get the tigers they were unhealthy and WAY underweight, and since they were hungry they would try to eat anything which fucked up their teeth BAD cause they were eating what they could find in their small cage. Exotic pets like chameleons, sugar gliders, and foxes are okay because they are small. Size DOES matter when you choose your pet. Even horses are potentially dangerous (ex. you get kicked in the head).

I have a house cat and sometimes she would attack me 4 no reason. whether shes playing or pissed i cant tell sometimes. But lucky 4 me she just a small regular cat so obviously she cant hurt me much. in my opinion, the woman is at fault. wild animals do not belong in private homes. they do not have the same mentality as most typical house pets do. also, it's really not fair to them, even if they never attack. keeping them caged is no way for wild animals to live. they should be running around in their natural habitat. obviously, there are some exceptions to this, like if they are being poached & need rescue, or if they need to be treated for injury, but eventually they need freedom.

I saw this ep the other day. This woman is crazy. Even after the lepard literally scalped her and began sucking on the blood of her open skull so that they had to shoot it, she still says she "would love to have another black leapard". She actually says the animal was only "playing" with her. Lady, even in the wild these cats don't "play" like that. She's seriously off her rocker.

Measure the space between the center of your left eye to the center of the right eye. More to the point, measure the distance between the left orbital socket of your skull to to the right. Now take the measurement of the space between a leopard's upper right canine to it's left. If they're similar it's probably not an accident. Now imagine a leopard sinking it's canines through your eyes into your orbital sockets to get a firm grip of your skull. Now imagine wanting a leopard as a pet.

It is really sad that people still insist on owning these animals as pets. I don't like that the animal had to be killed, but sometimes these things have to be done when people make bad choices. I hope this doesn't sound too awful, but at least it did not happen to someone who was just passing by. I mean when you own these animals you knowingly put yourself in danger. It is another thing when they attack people who have nothing to do with it.

If my 7 pound house-cat suddenly extends it's claws to grip my hand and give me a nearly pressureless bite while seconds earlier it was purring as I scratched it's neck then I'd hate to think what a 21 pound, wild, big-cat could do. My advice - get a domesticated house-cat, and whatever it does, just amplify and multiply it 10 times over then one will see these big cats will just swat the good sense back into you that they don't make good pets.

@Crystals246 I don't mean offend, but that really isn't true. Many rescue agencies will not take in a dog that has attacked someone. One near my home won't even take dogs that are thought to be violent like Pitbulls. Animal rescue places put the dogs through a behavior assessment as well to find out the the likelyhiid of another attack. I agree that the animal should be humanely euthanized, but if the animal is in the process of an attack and cannot be subdued, I don't see that as an option.

Leopards are the most agressive big cat. Because they're smaller they have to be meaner to defend themselves and their young from hyenas and lions. They have a reputation for messing hunters up bad which is a good reason to just leave them alone in the wild.

Generally bites to other parts of the body are exploratory bites. They are used to find out if it is something that can be eaten.

Nevertheless, this is the point I was trying to make in my comment of my post of a couple days ago - amp and mutiplfy this sort of behaviour 10 times over from a domesticated house-cat to these smallest of the "big cats" to get an idea of what one could do.

when people have wild exotic animals as pets they are so overcome with their attraction and love for it that their guard goes down and they would never expect anything bad to happen. Wild animals that are meant to stay in the wild can never be tamed no matter what justification you have. That leopard should be left to live in the wild...where it would likely get poached, captured for someone else to keep as a pet, or killed some other way related to loss of habitat. Yeah, dangerous animals shouldn't be kept in captivity for pets, but it's not like they are guarenteed a long life in the wild.
