That's a nice shot! I forget what those are called..leaders or something like that, but it's like the lightning is finding its target, and then comes the actual strike..nice shot though!
SHUT UP about ghosts, get a life... grow up and stop believing in fairytales... it was just lightning and sometimes it just doesnt really give a sound.
it was called a step leader as you can tell it never made it but only 5 to 10 feet off the ground but boy if it would have conected it sure woulda had one hell of a concution you wouldnt be standing there holding the camera you would have been knocked on your but
It's not a "Ghost Leader". It's called a taper and is basically the failed connection of a lightning strike. Channels of negative energy try and meet the "Stepped Leader" or pre-lightning bolt to make the connection. When the two meet - hey presto a lightning bolt!
your right, because if it had been a full charged bolt, it would have blinded the camer and the camerman for a few seconds being thta close.. I know first hand, and there is more than an OH MY GOD.... but that is a nice video of the leaders.
IT coulda been a window slightly tilted ant lighting struck a bit to the side direction of your house and you still saw the bolt but it wasnt exactly there
Sorry friend but that was a ghost leader. Its just your camera playing tricks on ya. Lol if it was ten feet in front of you, you would have been messed up real bad! Nice video though.
Well, you can't argue with science, although you will anyway I am sure. You see, it's all about the Thunder/Shockwave. The thunder would have been simultaneous with the flash if it had been that close. And LOUD. But, it's devoid from your video. Also, you would not have seen the bolt at all, only a blinding white screen would have appeared on film.
Oh yeah, AND you'd have felt the effects. You would not have escaped injury. You really think 100 million volts couldn't have traveled ten feet you claim the strike was away from you? On water covered ground?? Gotta face the facts!

Very nice capture, next time you should tape the sound of the thunder also.

If you pause at 0:16, it looks like the lightning is comming up from the ground

I like the first replay. Hearing you say "oh my God" real slow. Funny.

Yeah, that's a ghost reflection of the channel. No doubt about it. You would have heard the thunder the second it struck if it were that close.

ghosting effect, really not that close

yup, I second that one. It's a reflection in your camera lens. You'd be seriously injured/dead otherwise. Sorry dude.
