  • Thanks for sharing what is probably the best piano piece of the 20th century.

  • to cziffra11: Funny you should mention James Tocco. Were very close friends, and it was hearing him play the piece in the early 1970s that inspired me to learn it. A riveting experience! However, this performance was done before his album came out. cheers, Robert Silverman

  • wonderful....thrilling...thank you xD

  • This is the dies irae theme of the 21st century

  • This performance sounds so close to the James Tocco recording it's spooky. Even the recorded piano sound is very much the same. Mr. Silverman: do you know that recording?

  • frightening as hell. intense

  • THis is awesome piece! I want the music sheet of it!

  • such an amaizing song. i wrote a song more like the first movement. overtones are such an amaizing phenomenon. my friend can play this piece from memory, and especiall at 1:40 it is so ridiculously hard to play because of the octaves. the last chord is amaizing too. my friend says that on the grand piano, he has play the chord and it was still ringing 5 minutes later.

i have a request for a song though! What is Love by Haddaway lol. i love the sheet music while the song plays. i love following.

  • hahahaha unfortunately I cant do that request cause I don't have the music....lol

  • This is really fantastic, thanks very much. I'd love to see you do the same with an Elliott Carter piece, or some Ives perhaps?

  • If overtones are your thing, you should check out Carter's Piano Sonata. Quite similar in style to this piece, but in my opinion, transcends it.

  • @Daniel4119

I am disappointed that you called this a "song."

  • @Lithoxene

Which one? The variation? or what is love? Or are you just being picky about song meaning it has lyrics and this is actually a composition?

  • @Daniel4119

    Being picky.

    You knew the difference!

  • @Lithoxene

    (salutes)

  • I like the strike of the low note

  • Wow! It's great that you share this part of the Copland's Variations. It's a great piece......

  • thank you....have any requests on more pieces?

  • @4444matthew4444 Canticle of freedom by Copland.
