I agree with you apart from the great live experiences part. I've always thought post-rock to be quite boring live.

It is all up to your definition of "boring".

You don't get to play drunk and mosh on a post-rock concert because most of the audience just wants to enjoy the music.

In terms of crowd movement, again, it depends on the person.

Some people nod their heads a little bit, others go into full-on headbanging and some just stay completely still.

Depends on the artists and it depends on the person.
