why cant you just put the yarn in a washable bag and wash it, then make your sweater? instead of swatching it then wash it, since you will be washing your garment on a regular basis.
@MICHELLEEVANS33 If you only wash your yarn, you will still not be able to tell how much it grew or shrunk after the wash, and you won't know how to adjust your sweater. It is also a matter of how the yarn effects the size and shape of your stitches, which you can't tell if you only wash the yarn. Hope that helps clear things up :)
@Knit1For1Life The same general idea is the same, but for things like jackets and cardigans - you would have to split up the front half into the left/right sides and work your project flat instead of in the round.
I tried your blog, but cannot find where your math measurment chart is.You said it's an attachment with your blog post, and all you do is fill in the blanks.
@violetta40 If you search the blog for the term Sweater or Sweater Class, you will find Nina's blog posts for this class. For example, if you click on one of her last lessons, the blog post titled Design A Sweater, Lesson 7: Finishing, click on that blog post and you will see in purple letters, it says "Lesson 7 - Finishing" Anything in purple is a clickable link, and clicking on Lesson 7 gives you the worksheet to download. This is the same for every blog post on the sweater class.
@marianacuriel100 how many stitches you need will depend on your yarn and how you are knitting the sweater. If you take the stitches per inch of your yarn and multiply the circumference of the sweater you want, then you will get how many stitches you need to cast on.
We also have a video on how to knit with circular needles that will show you how to start knitting in the round.
@rubybunny1 A swatch is just a little square, usually 4x4 inches, that you use to determine how you are knitting and how many stitches per inch you are getting,
