Is it just me or is it pretty ironic that it was an Italian ref who gave a red card to Kewell on what was probably a 50/50 callthat gave Ghana a penalty shot in the box but gave a yellow card to the Ghana player that tackled from behind which as the boys commentating were saying, Fifa ruled that any tackle from behind was a red card, not only that but the tackle was much worse than Cahill's red card in the Germany game? We were really hard done by this world cup even more imo.

Is it just me or is it pretty ironic that it was an Italian ref who gave a red card to Kewell on what was probably a 50/50 callthat gave Ghana a penalty shot in the box but gave a yellow card to the Ghana player that tackled from behind which as the boys commentating were saying, Fifa ruled that any tackle from behind was a red card, not only that but the tackle was much worse than Cahill's red card in the Germany game? We were really hard done by this world cup even more imo.

@Lerlialen the cahill red card should have been a yellow not a red, that one was a mistake by the ref, but the one for the ghana player was yellow too. as for kewel, it can be a 50/50 call, but if you watched the champions league, every call like that was made the same, so at least the refs are consistent. it probably was unintentional, but he did stop a goal from going in with a handball so it had to be a penalty

@Ja5on004 actually, you have had a football league since the 70's, it just changed about 10 times because in all seriousness, they were so pathetic. and we cant compare league teams winning competitions because in national competitions, homegrown players must be used. afc is a joke compared to champions league, which was won by an italian team this year. australia might be improving a tiny bit each year, but you will never be like the big teams. Italy won the first 2 wc they participated in.

@Winstonbest and even with one man down australia only had one decent attempt at goal, when the italians had at least 4. the italians had dominated us throughout the match. i hate how people seem to think that we lost unfairly, when we cleary had 45 minutes to change the match in our favor and we couldnt. neill was an idiot for that tackle. we wouldnt have lasted in extra time. the italians were still on the attack while we seemed to have settled down and holding for penalties.

btw, I was pissed when he took that dive, but then again, I'm not a big soccer fan and after watching some other matches I've seen worse dives been called a penalty so I just figured it's part of the game to milk it and any other team looking to win such an important match would probably have done the same. I think people need to get over it already, a brand new world cup comp has just started so lets just hope they go further and don't run into another incident like that. Good luck to the boys.
