Those things were common grackles a certifiable pest bird. So they found one ex-employee with a chip on her shoulder to denounce the practice. Crime of the Century.

If the Purina people screwed up anywhere it's in not have a large crew to scour the grounds and police up all the bodies at the crack of dawn. No fuss, no muss.

That's the only real problem with Avitrol. It's messy, The birds die with great dramatic flourishes, and sometimes you get heaps of bodies.

And if a whole bunch of birds turn up dead you are guaranteed to start a panic when people see heaps of dead and dying birds and throw a conniption thinking "terrorist attack" or "West Nile".
