I'll keep my capital punishment, thanks. I'd rather (as a tax payer) pay for the chemicals for lethal injection than pay for someone to live a better life than I do in prison for 25-80 years.

This is an issue which won't be solved in this country as long as we have a flawed justice system where innocent people are sent to death row (though not very many, I'lll concede, but one is too many imo) and the death penalty is not used evenly across race and economic status. Until we can be sure that the person being executed is both guilty and deserving of death, I will stand against capital punishment. Not because I think it's morally wrong, but because of the reasons I stated.

Somewhat surprisingly, suspension hanging can be quite pleasant, and is akin to the autoerotic asphyxiation used by some people who deliberately occlude the carotid artery to enhance orgasm. Michael Hutchence, for example, and a British politician died this way because they passed out painlessly and didn't release the occluding medium (a scarf, usually) in time.

It's a risky thing to do, but accounts for the apparent erections of some male hangees in short-drop hanging.

I have never been able to understand how some States chiefly Texas execute someone to make him pay for a murder??? aren't they doing exactly the same??, isn't that premeditated murder also?, guess the difference is that they do have a license to kill so it's alright for them to do so. Also, there's always a chance that someone may be executed just to later find out that they may have been innocent.

God says for humans not to murder each other, but he also says that the penalty for sin is death. There is a clear difference between taking another person's life for no reason, and receiving the death penalty for a crime. In the light of absolute justice, we all die someday.

the only way to execute people humanely is to induce a state of hypoxia. There are ways to deprive the brain of oxygen that provide no risk to the person's well being in terms of a painful death. Either place the inmate in an altitude chamber or using nitrogen gas or argon pumped into the inmates system with a breathing mask. It is comletely painless and in induces a sense of euphoria.

An execution humane for the offender or the victim's family? I recently watched a US expert on the subject, he felt inducing hypoxia was not humane at all, to the family left behind that is.

People want to see blood (revenge), an eye for an eye, hardly humane thinking no matter what side you are on.

yeah...but I think the state should reserve capital punishment for extreme casses i.e Dr.shipman. But it shouldnt be handed out like sweets, which would make us just as bad as the criminals. We should learn to forgive and give people the chance to reform. But I'm not realy in a position to comment as i have never bean in that position of having had a loved one murdered.

also, how a person acts after killing someone is very important. do they accept responsibility? are they remorseful?

..absulutly...agree with you 99% I hate the trend that victims get further victimized by the very laws that where meant to protect them. LIFE NEVER MEANS LIFE, BUT IT SHOULD. Sure executions are inhuman, but I'm led to believe in the broader scheme of things its the most moral option, for society.

@mikekazik1 ...I can show you alot of criminals that after being released commited the same crime again....show me one criminal that was executed that was a repeat offender....oh and by the way, if some one killed a member of my family or a friend, they would have to execute them...I would fucking kill them myself....
