Great techniques but you wonder how effective they would be in a fight. It's not as if your attacker will offer you their hand to manipulate at your leisure.
how can you determine if someone cannot take an opponent using aikido. All these opponents give their hands away to be grabbed by the aikido practitioner.
the art of good defense is to minimise injury to ones self when falling hence why the opponents here fall gracefully. in the street you would aim to maim hitting them hard to fall hard?
i've yet to see a video where the aikido opponent is truly trying to resist the throws.
all i ever see is the participant opposite the aikido fighter leading themselves into every lead and throw. i want to see what happens if you fight against it, if they still work at all. or if you need to be much stronger for it to be successful.
i am becoming skeptical, but i want to believe in aikido. someone help me out.
You are asking for REAL AIKIDO, which is adopted to win period! Invented by Serbian Grand Master L. Vracarevic (black belt, 10 dan). In Serbia, Macedonia, Croatia you get these geniuses who do amazing stuff.
As far as I know, if the opponent resists too much, they'll break their bones or get some really nasty sprains. In the dojo, the students fall down willingly, to minimize the damage done to them.
Yeah, my insturctor told me not to put up too much resistance or I'll break my bones. He told me to be relaxed it's easier to break from an attempt to pin and also falling to save myself.
WTF they were hitting the tatami with a huge mass of inert material?

@jwgeezer Luckily this is simply form.
In Aikido you don't study situations. You study the body, the body in motion and energies. Kokyu is what we want to master.

In a tourny style she would be impressive, in a street fight trying to flip your attacker like that doesn't work. Yet nice video
