Well, unfortunately some of us weren't alive during this special period of record stores, I'm only 16. When I want an album I don't just illegally download it, I get up early on the day it's released and go to HMV to buy it. I couldn't imagine not owning my favourite albums except on MP3 files, it really would be incredibly impersonal.
he is THE man....in my little town 2 of the local record shops went out of buisness just because a big mall was built just a mile away...damn them!!!!
Some of my clearest memories, though some decades old, are of the precise moment I discovered some cool, rare or unknown record while flipping through local record shop bins (flash back to a Brian May & Friends 'Starfleet' EP moment :-)... and of that feeling of bliss accompanying those moments, as if via buried treasure! All hail the record store & that priceless hands-on experience that so nurtured my love of music (AND art!) Hadn't heard of this day 'til today's DT e-newsletter, so thanks MP!
As much as no one cares about whether you like Dream Theater in order to make a simple spelling correction, I didn't enjoy your correct spelling of the word "athleticism."

Now seeing him standing in front of the height measure
I wonder how tall he is

it would be way cooler to go to a record store to get music, but...
a) cds are more expensive than just downloading off of iTunes or similar sites
b) there won't be as much selection at a local record store, which is especially bad for someone who listens to a lot of obscure bands
so I have to say i disagree...

of course portnoy's right..
but he complains about the process of globalisation/modernisation..and doing that is as pointless as yelling at the sun "go away bitch!"

Considering the sun was here before us, unlike that.

as much as i don't enjoy the musical athleticism of Dream Theater (or anything of Dream Theater for that matter) his name is spelled Mike Portnoy.

Uhm...cool. Thanks.

I think he was referring to the "tags" section. There's a typo on Portnoy.
