What a pity that Sagan did not live to see the actual Mars rover in action.

I'm almost happy to see that Sagan did not live to see the fact that when it actually happened, the vast majority of people were far more interested in watching the drama unfold on Survivor on their television sets than they were the exploration of a different planet.
Ithaca resident and Cornell Prof. Steve Squyres won the Sagan Medal part, for his work on that Mars in rover and in getting the public involved in it. (Oct. 2009)
2 days ago, NASA launched the most sophisticated martian explorer yet. As big as a jeap, it has its own onboard lab and a nuclear battery. :)
