I tried this but my polish dried when it got to the water, making it so it wouldn't spread. Also my colors kept mixing. Do you have any suggestions for me??
@BritzFin for both issues you may simply have to try using different polishes. not all brands or even individual polishes work well with water marbling. make sure you use one that's Not fast drying.
@Alexcutspie do you mean base coat or the base colour? The answer is Yes for both. but if you don't use the base colour it will turn out looking different because the white background helps the water marbled colours be more vibrant. :)
@galinatsygankova I don't like to do that because it's a waste of tape. An alternative is to apply cuticle oil where the tape would be. So when you pull your finger out of the water you can simply wipe the polish off your finger and it slides off easily because of the oil. (I don't remember if I actually did that in this tutorial or not. )
Love this!! I have done the marbeling to my nails with aqua black and white, bcuz my pink and yellow I hav seen to fade in color when they are dropped in the water! :( but still love the idea!!! :D
@jokk12ify you can definitely do more than one nail at a time. (I usually do 2 or 3 at once. but for tutorial purposes I only did one in the video. :)
@Tweetybirdlovescandy with just one bottle - no. but you can definitely use one colour and a clear polish. just make sure neither of them are quick dry polishes b/c that will make it much more difficult.
that's the easiest and best way to show the technique .. i tried it b4, only one nail worked and got all the rest messed up :( will try using ur way n tips ;) thanx .. any special tips?
@SurfieSays Actually I don't know. I don't use those kinds of polishes, but I would think that as long as the polishes float on the surface in the same manner and can still dry under the UV lamp it should still work. I'm curious about how easy the clean up would be around your cuticles though. I would definitely recommend taping them. (it's not my preference but you may want to) :)
why it doesn't work for me ? :( Damn it i tried it 4 times and changed the water but doesn't work :'( *cry* The polish doesn't spread i get just a point :( !
@EmimixChoco me too! i tried it a week ago and i got frustrated with putting on tape to just get the polish on my nails, then i took it off and i just trried to take it off when i put my finger out of the water…..i still have some polish on my nails lol im a disaster
@swetamohanty24 I used a dotting tool to create the marble effect. you can use anything from a dotting tool or a pointed orangewood stick, or a pin or dressing needle. it just takes practice.
@ampupthelove it's probably more about the water than the polish. first though, fast drying polishes don't work well. as for the water room temperature is best, but try bottled water or different temperatures. just keep trying. it takes practice to get it to work properly. :)
@Miss80Million nice video! Heres a tip: use tape on your fingers so it wouldn't get all over your skin and u would be able to dip your finger down deeper and get the design better! -3
How do u clean up your skin around your nail's that get's the paint on them?! do u clean it really carefully with nail polish remover, or do u put something on your finger's to keep them dry?! cause it looked like u didn't have anything protecting the skin just dipping it right in their?! That's really cool though.
@JenMag5 I applied cuticle oil around my nails. that helps the polish just slide off when I wipe with a q-tip. lots of others put tape around their fingers too.
@108payne of course not. I just happened to have that color on. I like white as a base color b/c it makes the colors pop. any white you have will work great. :)
I've tried it two times and each time it don't come out right. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Does the water have to be a certain degree, like warm, cold or hot? Certain nail polishes or what?
@HotTnGirl69 it's definitely trial and error with both the individual polishes as well as the water temperature. use room temperature water, try to work quickly, and avoid polishes that are fast drying. hope this helps
@SuperHockeygoalie Oh ok, thanks for letting me know that. I been listening and watching some and I don't remember any of them saying anything about not using tap. Thats what I been using, so that might be the problem. I'll try what you said, thanks for the information and help. I really appreciate it. Hope you have a nice weekend...
@Paulina98Piano I think it does use more nail polish - especially if you do one finger at at time. But yes, if you're not picky about the pattern, you can dip in several fingers in the water at once. :)
WHAT??? I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE! sorry for all caps but this is so amazing! i pretty much was watching this with my mouth hanging open. seriously.
thank you thank you thank you ::runs off to try this:: !!! <3
@jaelinjanae hehe. thanks! I try but i'm still trying to find the right colors to work with. like many other people, it's tricky to find the right polishes that water marble well.
so glad to see someone finally use normal room temp tap water and NOT filtered water!! and oh...you didn't tape your fingers as others do also....which I LOVE that you didn't!
@sassaad75 haha. thanks :) I don't have regular filtered water. and i don't like using tape b/c it feels wasteful, and i feel like i'm always gonna mess up my mani by taking it off. :) glad you liked it :D
Lovely colour combination! Isn't it wise to protect your finger with some tape before dipping it in? It saves a lot of time as you don't have clean so much...
