  • Pixar Canada right?

  • I've graduated one college so far, and I got rudimentary training in 3D animation. Would you recommend Animation Mentor?

  • PSYCHONAUTS MUSIC!

Hearing the music from psychonauts just makes me so damn happy.

  • is the music from 3 Ratchet and clank?

  • The first time I saw this, before I took any animation classes at all, I just thought "eh, it's pretty good".

After I had an animation class of my own trying to learn how to animate basic movements, I see this and think: HOLY FUCKING SHIT! THESE ARE AMAZING!

I guess it's no surprise you're working for Pixar.

  • I always wondered who did the "can't touch this" from the AM showreel. Well done man! It's awesome that you're a great animator, and have such great thoughts about Video games and our world.

    Keep it up!

  • i mean my friend is i am justin ha

  • i am called daniel floyd ha

  • 0:42 is that the soundtrack from basic braining? (phsyconauts)

  • have you been to that site!?! Its so incredibly expensive!!!

  • @cursedsound1 It's actually less expensive than most animation schools and has one of the best reputations in the industry. Worth every penny. :)

  • @kirithem Huh, well I guess if I become more interested I will check it out a bit more, until then, its to expensive for a hobby. (I am humbled I even got a response from you, keep up the good work!)

  • Im sure u will become great in the art

  • Pixar Canada is lucky to have you Floyd.

  • @kirithem Isn't the Boot Camp music pulled from Psychonauts?

  • oh snap, that's so good

  • Solid body mechanics, mate ! Hope I do as good at my body mechanics classes at AM. Btw I think the MC Hammer Shot was on the Student Showreel a while back , right ?

  • You should be called pink...just sayin...

  • Hey, I saw you on the Unity3D forums! I could tell who you were by your style.

  • seriously, 3 people somehow hit the dislike button, WTF, SERIOUSLY W T F!?!?!?!

Daniel Floyd deserves his respect, as indeed so many others agree ^__^

  • Psychonauts music at 0:45?

  • @Farvei it's from Oleanders basic braining.

  • The guy who made this works at Pixar now.

  • Thank you for getting that LBP song stuck in my head.....

  • the ending almost screams LITTLE BIG PLANET. nice work :D

  • This looks like what Pixar made when they first started out way back...waay back. I wonder, is it hard to animate these objects? I don't mean the acting characters in your video, that looks difficult.

  • Lol this is some great work :D>. Whats the second part from? where he is on the phone.

  • very nice

  • Hahah!

I've seen all of your video lectures on ScrewAttack, and wanted to see if you've done anything else. This is pretty funny, man! I'm learning to be an animator right now. Blender's freaking COMPLICATED!

I want to see more of this animation stuff you do.

  • dude... you is good

  • First thing is from a movie, right? If it is, what movie?

  • The dialogue line is from a movie called Accepted. I just pulled the audio and made it into an animated scene.

For whatever reason, Justin Long's voice is very fun to animate to.

  • great animation!

  • Your animations are GREAT!! You are very talented, and I love your lecture videos too!

  • These are really nice-looking animations! I love how much character they have, especially the little dude breakin' it down to Can't Touch This.

Also, this is actually going to make me crazy. What's the name of that last song?

  • I THINK it's called Cornman. It's from LittleBigPlanet.

  • @kirithem I know this comment is kinda old but the band's name is Kinky from Monterrey, Mexico. They do Electro Pop with traditional Northern Mexican Music overtones. Last thing I heard from them was a cover of Mexican Radio. Awesome band over all.

  • Love it, especially the LBP music :P keep up the good work, from a future animator :P

  • Man, you've got a lot of talent and skill. Keep it up! ^_^

  • 2.05 Brilliant!

  • These are pretty awesome!

  • YOU were in ANIMATION MENTOR!??!

omg dude you're everything i'm trying to be!!

game researcher and a 3D animator?? tell me you're trying to be a video game designer as well.

I also heard u've been in SCAD??

  • what was the first one from?

  • I love the armless dude dancing to "Can't Touch This."

  • Heh! Great work =)...

  • This is /SO/ much fun to watch it, even tho it's random - I'd buy the DVD xDD

keep it up just like that :)

  • Coming along nicely man, nice work.

  • I love this.

Just goes to show that exaggeration gets the point across so well, in such an amusing manor.

The brilliant part is that you could just dial back the exaggeration and suddenly you've got very believable movements actions and emotions.

  • Oh these are great!

One thing that I like about all of them is the expressions that the eyes reveal. Like in the class five video, the little worrisome look he gives the phone before brushing it off and saying "oh".

And man, you can never go wrong with Cary Grant! :)

  • Really cool! The voice of the guy in the first video sounds a lot like Justin Long.

  • It actually is him. It's from the movie Accepted. Maybe not a fantastic film, but I enjoyed it.

  • good job :)

  • very cool

  • Nice work!

  • You've come really far Daniel!

  • Wow, this is really good! Keep up the good work.

  • Daaaamn bro, you know what you're doing! :)

  • AnimationMentor? Sounds like something I should take a look at when I get more interested in the artistic side of making games. Right now I'm waiting to start a course in game programming, but art is fun too.

  • You sir, have a future in this!

  • Most people put 3-5 seconds of dead space after their video ends. It's known as cutoff protection. Even a fade to black should do it.

  • Cool man, they got you in the intro vid. Great stuff.

  • sweet seems a lot better - keep working man :D

  • Some serious talent here mate

    cheers!

  • Keep the good work! We love to see you videos"

  • Youre a very good animator and also just wondering will you be posting another lecture vid i realy enjoy them :)

  • first bit was jokes

  • very nice work, specially the new ones.

  • I know who I hire when I finally get enough money together to create that game studio of mine :-)

    AWESOME work.

  • Damn man, you have talent! Hoping to see whatever games you get involved with later on!

  • Say Daniel, is this all your work ? If so, are you planning to be a full time animator or so ?

  • yay

  • Awesome animations! I can't help myself but watch the first three bits over and over again :D

  • Ive been looking into animation, I currently use 3DSmax but I herd maya is better for it, i am unable to get used to the change. I looked into animator mentor but those classes are way to expensive for me no matter how much i want to do it :/

  • i mean... those animations are REALLY nice but...

when do we get another discussion video about video games? i loved that so much! :D

  • i cant stop looking at the first part and the facial expressions

  • loving the psychonauts music. also, you are a truly talented animator.

  • i think the music is from LBP

  • The one from the Boot Camp bit? Nope, that definitely Psychonauts.

  • Looks good!

  • well wat will the next lecture be about?

o and this is a great video!

  • Hey, what 3d software do you use? I'm trained in 3ds Max, and the one you're using looks a bit more user friendly than Max.

  • It's been Maya all the way for me.

  • Oh you lucky bastard, have you ever used Max before?

  • good stuff

  • lol swim faster across the river hahaha

  • sweet vid you rock bro!

  • wow that is really awesome ^_^. My brother has taken animation classes. I remember every time I saw him he was out at the studio working on projects. The workload for those classes are huge. Anyways, good luck in your next class!

  • LittleBigPlanet music :)

Daniel, you got a 360 mate?

  • That I have. Probably the most frequently used console in the house these days.

  • Cool, Can I add you? I've seen some of you're videos, much respect for you mate, would love to play with you sometime

  • Wow very cool :D

  • I enjoy these :)

  • is this just with animation mentor

  • Yeah, only my Animation Mentor assignments. I've also got reels with my work from SCAD (decent) and the shots I had made before that (horrible).

  • Looks great, Really cant wait to see more.

  • SWEET! I remember watching all of this little videos before, but you're seriously getting really good at this. Keep it up! :D

  • holy s-

and I thought you were only talking about stuff

    this is amazing

  • The first clip is from "Accepted". Great college humor movie. It's worth checking out.

Awesome job, Daniel. Keep up the good work.

  • i like the first two alot because the animation reminded me of toy story

  • Still like the LBP music. We should play sometimes...... I have a mic....

  • Why didn't you render the first 3 ones? awsome btw

  • I'll probably render them later. I'm just too burned out from animating them right now.

  • Fucking awesome

  • looking awesome dude! keep it up!

  • wow... that is really good. The motion of characters is really really good. GJ

  • Have you tried making it HD or as high as the settings can go? That might make it look smoother.

Looks great though! You're very skilled!

  • Wow, nice work Daniel, looks awesome. If you don't mind me asking, was the animation done with a dedicated editing program or did you have to render the graphics from scratch?

  • It was all animated and rendered in Maya (an industry standard) with characters/rigs provided by the school.

  • I don't know what it is about that fox tailed ball but it just has appeal.

  • very nice :)

  • Comment removed

  • thats awesome!

  • It drives me mad how many frames get dropped when I upload to youtube. I feel like I must be doing something wrong.

  • lol

  • These are excellent, but when are you going to do another "Talking about these"?

  • I'll get to work on another during the break. I've had zero time in the last two months for ANYTHING and it has sucked.

  • I hear ya. At least you got some sweet animations done! :)

  • Gratz on the class there!

  • wow that's pixar good

  • it's a wonder they haven't hired you.

  • @spike199517 He got a job at Pixar !!!
