  • The paul Butterfield band was one of my greatest influences in the late 60's earls 70's I love Pauls Harmonica Playing and he more or less taught me how to play Harp allthough we never met. Check out my version of Mystery Train in 82 on you tube Dale King

  • It's so sad that Michael Bloomfield left us so soon great talent same with paul butterfiel thank you for leaving us some great classic music Merry Christmas .

  • How cool is it that he introduces and invites "a friend of the band", Maria Muldauer? Plus there's Elvin Bishop, before he 'fooled around and fell in love'. I never knew much about Paul and the band. I'm just getting back into harmonica since dabbling with it as a kid, and his name comes up in talk among harp players I've heard online. Nice version of Mystery Train, but Elvis's still has something to it that can't be topped. Maybe that's at least partly because it's a studio take. Enjoy it all!

  • anybody got the song it all comes back?

  • I was there! Mosty shitty concert.

  • in '66,67 four guitars were there for us. mike, eric, jimi, &jeff. i enjoyed each of them, however, mike bloomfield is where my tastes ran !at 17 his picture was in my wallet . i was happy when he got "over" his substance problems &insomnia.his playing was back in a better place !not, elvis as all time best on that song ,to me, jr.parker. somebody help me call it . pat hare or matt's older sib floyd "guitar" murphy

  • never knew anything about them and I know almost everything as far as humans are concern, that includes Euclid and Plato and the Fabulous Poodles

  • Ya gotta hear Danny Gatton do this song!

  • Ya gotta hear Danny Gatton do this song!

  • No one beats Elvis Presley on this song but they did alright on their version

  • No one beats Elvis Presley on this song--but tey did pretty well

  • I was at this show - actually the Tribal Stomp. It was a Chet Helms deal. Butterfield and Its a Beautiful Day stole the show in my opinion. But lots of great acts including the Fish and Chambers Brothers. They absolutely ripped.

  • I think that's Elvin Bishop on slide.

  • This band was the most exciting band of the mid-60s! A shame that 2 enormously talented men died under similar circumstances (I think Bloomfield was gone within a year or so of this performance). Butterfield has been my favorite singer since his first album came out in 65. As for Mike Bloomfield, I think his playing on the the first 2 Butterfield Blues Band remains fresh, energetic and just great to listen to.

  • He was the best. Miss him,

  • I want to cry when I realize that Paul and Mike are both dead. They didn't deserve such a short time here. All the really good musicians are dead from the 60's & 70's. Have been a Paul Butterfield and Mike Bloomfield fan since 1973. I was 14 listening to my older brothers records and found them. Never ever forgot them. It's been over 36 years and counting. 36 years of wonderful music. Miss you guys forever. Jean Jeanie

  • @jfp718 I miss them too !!

  • This is a great song, thanks for adding it. Does anyone know where I can find this version on MP3? Thanks again.

  • it's a bootleg i stumbled across on ebay a few years ago.

  • Sorry, somewhat late and maybe you do have it already, but there is a version on Limewire.

  • @moonrunner1972 just rip it

  • @moonrunner1972 just rip it. There's loads of free software that captures music. (Not that I ever use it of course.)

  • I hate still shots. This is VIDEO.

  • Who was programming the Greek Theatre in those days? Some amazing things went down there.

  • I believe it was Chet Helms.

  • saw them in boston '65/'66? i think at paul's mall. small venue, big sound; i was hooked forever....

  • great recording. Blues Gospel and some Bloomfield slide.

  • yeah!

  • considering they hadnt played together in 12 years i think its a dam good performance too.definitely one of the highlights of this show.

  • @ZINEDINE05 Not really true. I saw a gig at Winterland in 1972 with the following bill.

    The Mike Bloomfield Band

    The Sons of Champlin

The Elvin Bishop Group with Jo Baker

    Copperhead featuring John Cippolina

    The Paul Butterfield Blues Band

With the monster jam at the end with ALL the bands playing together.

  • @Ishmael932 I entered kindergarten two weeks after Woodstock, so I was a bit young to catch these cool shows. It's great to see the passion people have for them. I kind of helped steer my nephew 'in the right direction' a few years ago, and at 21, he has a wonderful appreciation of music that preceded all of what is typical fare for the majority of his generation. He knows more about Elvis and Sinatra than I do, and he genuinely digs the old stuff -- a lot of Blues, too. Memphis was killer.
