Arguing about tastes is pointless coz everyone's different. Also , u can't really compare Oasis & GnR.......they're like apples n oranges. Oasis's music is influenced by their background which in my opinion is more varied and eclectic ie. The Manchester scene , 60's , Punk ie The Pistols , Baggy , Hacienda , Gliitter Rock , early 70's & even New Wave to some extent....as well as folk , northern soul , British R&B , psychedelia etc....etc.... GnR r more of a straight heavy rock band...still gud.

The era in which a band exists is the biggest dictator of their sound. The beatles were amazing for their time. Without them breaking the mould in rock we wouldnt have the music and so many great bands that have happened since. Oasis are a perfect example of this. Noel has said a million times that Oasis wouldn't have existed without the beatles. Ofcourse some of their music sounds a bit dated now because it was 50 years ago. Oasis will sound dated in 50 years too but it will still be classic.
