I very much wish such songs based on Indian classical ragas should be re-created by singers like Begum Parveen Sultana and presented in their inimitable style. Mehndi Hassan sahab has sung a film song "Ranjish hi sahi"(which was sung by himself) into a first class popular ghazal with various variations.

This song is a rare from Malhar. Music of Malhar was directed by Roshan and so was Barsaat Ki Raat. Malhar was produced by Mukesh but it bombed on the box-office.

Wow! Beautiful song in Raga Gaud Malhar. Although there is a similarity between the song from Barsat Ki Raat " Garjat Barsat Sawan Ayo Re" this sounds very fresh and different. I've never heard it. A million thanks to vidhasn for introducing me to this song. Although I am a Belgian I am fond of Indian Classical and Hindi Film music.

I agree and am a great fan of Lata's voice but listen to Roshan Ara Begum on you tube. She is the ultimate female command in Raag if you are looking to hear real Raag.
