Every time someone tells me how awesome Sonic Youth is, I come and listen to one of their songs and I realize the person who told me that is retarded.
Also, one wonders if when these people get older they're embarrassed about how stupid they were. Talking about fascism without understanding it, calling things irony that are just coincidences ... hilarious.
@brainiacgames they were great but only before the Goo album. This particular track is from a bad album. Regarding your point I think repeating over and over "it's the song i hate" doesn't seem to have anything to do with fascism. if anyone disagrees i am all ears
Noise, Grunge, Alternative...who cares about the label? Labels are there to divide people and to create markets...the only thing that really matters is the music, whic his great!
@DerekMcA there r grunge bands out of seattle and the grunge did start around the same time as sonic youth, the first time it was mentioned was by the vocalist of the mudhoney in 81, the grunge you mention, was actualy the end of it when some bands got into the mainstream, and sonic youth is very related with grunge so it is acceptable to confuse or classify them as grunge. tolerance.

democracy is the folly of mankind, it's easily corrupted and can divide the nation. Communism destroys a nation and exploits the working class or people living true difficulty in order to let Jews come into power.
Fascism restores the unity of a nation and puts class, money, pseudo-intellectualism, ego and self-importance aside for the good of a nation. It destroys the risk of tyranny that the right supports and the anarchy of the left. Power, freedom, tomorrow. Hail Mosley
SY's definitely part of the NY no wave. "Grunge" doesn't mean shit ! AFA the censorship issue is concerned, these were the Geffen years... "Goo" & "Dirty" were a lot more commercial than their previous albums (f.i. "Daydream Nation", "Sister" and of course the ultra experimental "Bad moon Rising").
To be honest, I didn't like Bad Moon Rising too much. It was a little repetitious, but I agree, their older albums before they went to Geffen were far better. I also find it somewhat ironic that a song against Fascism has a music video. Probably played on Mtv.
But I still love Dirty, it's actually a pretty good album, but Sister is far better.
My fav remains "Sonic Youth" (5 tracks, mainly instrumental), "Confusion is Sex" is quite groundbreaking 2 (check out the reprise of The Stooges "I wanna be your dog"), "Washing Machine" is grt 2, but I find their latest 2 commercial (They don't experiment enough any more), though their gigs remain an interesting experience.
