As i remember actually so called yellow press glorified hooligans in early 70's and made them kinda heroes. Then - after Maggie won the election - they started to despite them as an example of british stupid working class people. Now we have the result - mediahyped soccer, overwaged players, expensive tickets and very lame and boring atmosphere at stadiums. The best (and of course worst) fans have been kicked out there, they hardly all even watch matches on tv.
Does anyone remember Rowan Atkinson as the football coach saying to the team "This....is a ball" - what is it from? I cannot find it anywhere!!! HELP!
Ironically its the left are the ones actually trying to offer causes and solutions to these riots, while the right have resorted to only condemnation and snobbish/racist vitriol, if that isn't hand wringing then what is? If anyone who dares say anything different to "send in the army and shoot them all" gets shouted down as an apologist, then how are we ever going to stop this from happening again?

I've been watching the London riots from the safety of Australia and I immediately thought of the inevitable hand-wringing lefties who will make every excuse you could imagine for these idiots. It of course reminded me of this sketch and I'm glad someone has posted it. Thanks.
@OzzieGG An Australian having a pop at rioters, is a bit like the pot calling the kettle black. Obviously ain't done much Aussie history have you, because you'd know the nature of the early settlers of your modern nation. Convicts, and thieves - weren't they? But, like these rioters, convicts and thieves - that were fighting against a British establishment that has robbed their entire future from them. If you were fully conscious of your own roots, you could shown more empathy.
