  • Got to bring them back to the NW!

  • Drones and Chanters, just like my other favourite instrument. I guess that makes the Hurdy Gurdy the bagpipe of the stringed world.

That would be an awesome performance bagpipes AND hurdy gurdies.

  • How tricky it must be to keep the two at the same tune....great job! :)

  • I am blown away

  • Wow. These guys are AMAZING. The hurdy gurdy sounds like a violin/cello had a baby with a bagpipe. Way to combine my two favorite instruments EVER! :D

  • Beautiful! Beautiful!

  • Just love this.

Hard to even know what to say.

    Very, very, very nice.

  • Thank you for reminding me why I love the hurdy so much. These hurdies have such a beautiful, full sound - unlike most of the out of tune screetchers here on YouTube. :P Then again, I'm sure they must've cost a small fortune. Double thumbs up for the players!

  • The sounds are very similar to those of bagpipes, wow ! The song is full of joy ! :-)

  • Fantastic!

  • Beautiful! Well done :D

  • A decent low-end one is generally somewhere in the vicinity of 1.5-2k. A really good lute-back, something like Bouffard's (ponytail guy) would probably be at least three times that, quite possibly more. Chabenat's...I'm not sure.

  • OK Thanks

  • Chabenats in this Video is one from Wolfgang Weichselbaumer (Austria) and costs about 8400€. Although these are the best modern types you can get in the whole world... not only in my opinion.

  • Cost about 1500 euro

  • 2.4k USD would get you one you could use for years but the top notch ones will go for about 4k and are very rare in the US.

  • They do sound especially sweet, when you can afford such high class models like theirs. ;)

  • doesn't that music make you want to do a jig dance? Wow! Thank you! I WANT a hurdy gurdy! They are too expensive for me right now. But as soon as I can afford one. Hey! Wonderful music I could play.

  • I love the Hurdy Gurdy thanks for the tune

wish I could afford one they real sound great when you add that zing with a bit more handle speed.

  • Mesmerizingly beautiful :)

  • Una nau sus los genolhs, un navire sur les genoux , a ship on your knees pour aller vraiment plus loin, vive la vielle à roue!

  • Vive la Vielle a roue!

  • BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tro tro fort!!!!

  • Wonderful!

  • It's quite interesting the fact that you actually spin the thingy with your right hand and play with your left

  • And again! i'm going to a concert of didier francois and gilles chabenat!

    and again i can't wait!

I love the way Patrick bouffard plays his gurdy :O

  • Cette vidéo est bien. Si elle vous a plu, essayez d'écouter ces deux vielleux(Patrick Bouffard et Gilles Chabenat)dans leurs propres enregistrements. Ainsi vous serez conquis par la vielle à roue Centre France

  • That is incredible, both such skilled players...i saw chabenat last year, he is without a doubt one of the best performers i have ever seen! thanks for posting this!!!
