To be honest, I'm surprised to read all the negative comments. No it's not like her nineties performances (MSG, Tokyo..) but I actually think it's fantastic! I loved it.

Hmm.. I wouldn't say its bad, 'cause its pretty awesome ^-^ But there's a change in her voice from last time til now. She used to have a strong, awe-inspiring voice. Now she has a smoother, more spirited voice.

You do realize this was immediately after the September 11th terrorist attacks. Mariah, like many, especially those living in New York were affected and this performance shows its effects and singing a more subdued version might just be the appropriate way.

She either writes or cowrites the vast majority of her songs. This song, however, she TOTALLY wrote herself. She is listed as the only writer of this song. She is a pretty gifted writer with 18 number one hits. Definitely more than just a pretty face. Go Mariah!!!!

@thdem4ever she is not listed as the only writer, you're so wrong. Just check it again cause Walter A, is listed on both my Music Box albums (canadian and mexican prints) as well as her Hero single (with Everything Fades Away plus NBC Live performance) and it also does on her medley single from 2001 (Never Too Far / Hero) Haven't checked her Greatest Hits or No 1's but I am sure Walter has to appear. Actually she's not that of a real writer.

@baretreemty well actually she describes writing songs with walter as sitting together at a piano, she's humming something and he's playing something and they work together in finding the melody
her part lies mostly(not only she does help at the melodies) in the texts, she writes most of her lyrics
