The small square holes with the neat dirt dirt embankments on the edges are just cattle wattering "dug-outs". They are pretty common on the dry cattle pastures of the West. Note the little cow paths too.
Some were dug in the bottoms of what look like craters but aren't part of the original crater, just ranchers improving the water gathering capabilities of the craters and low areas.
