The Jim Henson company is so amazing! I am fascinated by its production values and the art of puppetry! I'm so glad that after Jim passed away, his family has kept it going.
This video was featured in the April 6 2011 episode of The Daily Show as what would occur when the BP oil spill meets up with the Fukushima disaster and the Texas sized flotilla of garbage in the Pacific ocean.
I remember when I was a kid (between like 3 and 7, I'm 30 now) watching this show with my family, and then being sent off to bed. This, and the Muppet Show I think it aired at like 7:30 or 8 here in the States back then.
Question: do they make anything for kids that's this good anymore? With such high production values, and such brilliant stories and songs? You don't have to answer, we all know the answer.
I'm with ayeroxor--that'd make an interesting study. I saw her as kind of a loving grandmother, and the rats (or whatever they were) as funny and well-meaning.
I used to be TERRIFIED of the Trash Heap as a kid. She has to be the scariest entity in a children's show in history! All those nights of checking the foot of the bed and closet for that scary thing!
You people are hilarious! She was only ever nice and helpful! It would be a fascinating and revelatory study to find why some kids were able to see past her appearance and others were not.
How are the lyrics dark? Basically it says "Mom told me that as you try to achieve your dreams, it's normal to encounter trouble. I've lived and learned, and as people ask me to counsel them, they've brought their troubles to me. In talking about it, they find relief, and I help them choose their next move. I consider myself lucky to be able to help others, so please tell me about your problems"
I don't see anything dark. The lyrics are in the "more info" of watch?v=PZAjCrl5zPg
I loved this when i was young and I always got a laugh out of those two rats that said "You are in the presence of the all knowing, all saying Trash heap!" I really liked it when the Trash Heap would sing.
1. Listen to a song you like.
2. Play and watch this song at the same time, but without any sound.
3. Laugh.
4. Thank me later ;)

All of which I found to be quiet funny.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Watching this recently, I feel this is almost racist. I get the feeling like she's supposed to be a black ex-prostitute turned wise-religious woman.

Margory, the all-knowing trash heap, was my favorite on Fraggle Rock! But I was the mom of Fraggle-watching kids.
