Notice it foams as it melts. This happened to me with a 2 liter bottle in my barracks room mini fridge. It blew up with enough force to throw the fridge door open and wrecked everything in the fridge including my 6 pack! I hypothesize what happened is the CO2 was purged when ice crystals formed and was trapped as bubbles in the ice. When I noticed the soda was frozen and turned the fridge warmer the ice melted and released the CO2 which was enough to rupture the bottle and ruin my 6 pack.
