Agree , these people were special , down to earth and there songs will never die. The composition in Raag Darbari is just divine. At age 10 I sang this song on the stage in former East Pakistan and won the first prize. This was an unforgettable moment in my life. I met Talat saheb  in Montreal 25 years ago and this was an honor to shake hands with him. we were both born in the same city Lucknow.

This song from Arzoo starring Dilip and Kamini Kaushal is one of Talat's famous ghazal of yester years. Although he sings here in a faster pace the original is slower and sung in a sad mood. Talat's voice was unique in those days and many tried to imitate his voice and style with less success.He was the master of Ghazal singing undoubtedly.

You are not seeing old age. Talat was not well for a very long time. He had Parkinsons but never gave up singing even when he was unwell. Nobody was handsomer than Talat in music industry. Please do not compare Rafi, Mukesh and Kishore with Talat. Talat beat them outright with his looks and voice.

i will concede the saigal point, though i love him. however, i don't think that your argument is fair. noor jehan's voice was always rough, not very refined. people still listen to mukesh, they still listen to rafi. also, lets not forget, lataji's voice is still considered by all to be the most beautiful voice.

1) I had similar opinion like you (about noorjahan), but few years back I downloaded a song from Mirza Ghalib (pak movie) sung by Noorjehan and Salim Raza...that changed my opinion.

2) Salim raza had as good voice as that of Rafi, Mukesh---but could not touch them....here lies another clue...Because he did not get work and was not refined by a music director such as SD Burman, Naushad etc
