  • that ball was dead the moment it hit the floor

  • In defense of the refs, there was no rule against purposely advancing a fumble back then. I am no Raiders fan, but I admire the gusto they had to make this play into a winning TD.

  • @aaaredskin This bullshit call is why the rule on fumbles was changed.

  • @bayushizero You're right...

  • another controversy should be the "polomalu punch"

  • @YungDude024 "polomalu punch?

  • @jtfourlife pats vs steelers this year troy polamalu dived and punched a patriots fumble into the endzone causing a safety at the end of the game which shouldve been illegal but wasnt called

  • I love the old Raiders players: "It was funny, it was a bending of the rules..."

Then fastforward to numbers 1 and 2 on the count down and they're crying for blood!

Villapiano and Atkinson are fucking obnoxious and should be taken off these countdowns

  • It was legit then. So its not really controversial. xD

  • ... I don't see where it was so controversial. They were allowed to do this at the time.

  • "yes, now get your big butt out of here"! ha

  • @Abe91195 One of the funniest things ever said by a broadcaster during a live game! "Now get your big butt outta here! ....He does!"

  • Where's your SB ring Fouts? Oh Wait you dont have one.

  • "THEY SAY YES, THEY SAY GET UR BIG BUTT OUTTA HERE. HE DOES!!!" lmao best commentating ever

  • You can't fumble on purpose? I must of missed that in the rule books, a really risky move that paid off for the Raiders...I guess.

  • Look at you all big and tough behind your computer screen

  • I love how Stabler admits tossing it, but whiny Steelers fans still think the only reason the Patriots ever won a game since 2000 was because of the film scandal almost ten years ago.

  • Looking at this at a team name perspective, of course the PATRIOTS get the calls over the RAIDERS. Duh.

  • did the tuck rule exist back then? even if the chargers challenged it i don`t think they would have been over ruled. it looked like a fumble to me

  • baaaaahahaha, throw it out there shake the dice.

  • And they paid for this many times over.

  • Karma bit the Raiders in the ass with the Tuck rule game vs the Patriots

  • Why did the NFL changed the Forward Fumble but kept the tuck rule.

  • @ 2:21 nfl has got fresh evidence on the holy roller play

  • @StFidjnr Too bad it came 30 years too late. LOL.

  • this should be higher on the list

  • You can't fumble forward or they would draft the best fumbler.

  • "Madden is on the field! He wants to know if it's real! They say yes...get your big butt outta here! He does!"

  • @KennethKaniffFromCT "this one will be relived... forever!"

  • Roller was a bad call. So can't San Diego Charger fans say that the refs cost them a Super Bowl, just like you blame Walt Coleman for the tuck rule costing you a Super Bowl. Charger fans have a case since this was a bad call, but Raiders fans don't because the tuck rule was legit. And please read both comments before replying.

  • @patsrule213 The Roller call happened in the 70's the tuck call happened in 01' big gap there a call made in the 70's should have no effect on a game over thirty years later when most of the people who played then are now retired and just cause a bad call was made in favor of one team doesnt mean they make another bad call to screw over that team to even it out

  • @RaiderArmy20

Again why would the nfl analysts say that it was the proper interpretation of the tuck rule, then spit all over the rule? It makes no sense. And you can pass the ball with 2 hands, which is why those nfl analysts say that it is the proper interpretation of the tuck rule.

  • @patsrule213 what qb passes the ball with 2 hands?

  • @TheOscar401

It just has to be possible, which it is. And on google search "nfl total access top 10 controversial calls" and it's the first link. That should clear up any doubts that you have about the tuck rule play.

  • @patsrule213 When have you ever seen a QB throw a ball with two hands .... Im willing to bet nver cause no one throws a ball with two hands on the ball. I have watched many non raiders games and have always seen similar situations ruled a fumble and thats because it is a fumble not a tuck

  • @RaiderArmy20

That's not my point, my point is it has to be possible for the tuck rule to apply, which it is. The pass doesn't have to pretty, it just has to be possible. The original play was in fact the proper interpretation of the tuck rule. Nfl analysts agreed but agree it's a dunb rule. Here's how to get to the video. On google serach "nfl total access top 10 controversial calls". That video should answer all your questions.

  • @patsrule213 Also Brady had both hads on the ball when he fumbled it so tuck rule no longer applys so Pats lost that game

  • @patsrule213 FIRST OF ALL, the 1978 "HOLY ROLLER" was played in week#2. THEREFORE your Chargers had 12 more weeks to get their shit together. As for this fucking "TUCK RULE" bullshit, I have watched many non Raiders games and have seen a whole bunch of plays just like Tom Brady's fumble in the snow. Same situation. Quarterback's arm going forward on a PUMP FAKE, ball in BOTH HANDS, defensive player hits him (JUST LIKE WOODSON HIT BRADY) defensive team recovers, and IT IS RULED A FUMBLE!!! ----->

  • @Oaklandgirlpitlover1

The tuck rule was used against the Patriots earlier that season, nitrotractor is right. And the tuck rule was used against the Ravens when they played the Chiefs in the 2010 playoffs. And I personally didn't say it was legit, I found nfl analysts who agreed with me and had them tell you that it was in fact the proper interpretation of the tuck rule, but they believe that it's a dumb rule. If a bad call favored the Patriots, I would admit to it, but that's just me.

  • @patsrule213 CONTINUED: As I was saying, the officials awarded the defense the football. NOW THEN, BACK TO the Raiders. If you are just going to use a rule against the Raiders, and no one else, then the rule is not really legit. It hasn't been used against any other team BUT THE RAIDERS before or since. It needs to go. OF COURSE, Patriot fans are going to say its legit. they benefitted from it. To me, this is WAY worse than "The Imaculate Reception" of 1972. And I read both comments of yours.

  • @Oaklandgirlpitlover1 The tuck rule was used against the Pats vs the Jets earlier in the season. It has also happened many times since. Please stop making shit up.

  • @NitroTractor First of all I'm not making shit up. I have yet to see these fucking games you are talking about. Then you say it has happened many times since. Where the fuck is your proof? How do I know you're not just some cock sucking Raider hater on here just giving me some shit? Show me where (JUST LIKE TOM BRADY) the quarterback gets hit AFTER TUCKING THE BALL IN (both hands on the ball), HE GETS HIT, HE FUMBLES, AND THE OFFICIALS RULE IT INCOMPLETE. Don't worry I'll wait.

  • @Oaklandgirlpitlover1 So because you personally didn't see it they didn't happen? I can't be bothered to look all the other instances of the tuck rule to prove your inane comment wrong. A simple google or youtube search will show you "my proof." Jesus you're delusional.

  • @NitroTractor You know what, after looking up all that you said, I still believe the tuck rule is bullshit. Simply because, as long as two hands are on the ball, ESPECIALLY after a pump fake ( WHICH THEREFORE, IS NO LONGER A FORWARD PASS ), that ball is a FUMBLE if the ball carrier is hit and the ball pops free. To this day, Tom Brady STILL admits that was a fumble that night.

  • Billy King pulls off the best performance in the history of sports announcement: ""Madden is on the field. He wants to know if it's real. They said yes, get your big butt out of here! He does! ""

  • @temacommunity i heard that line in the early 90's off some sports illustrated video, real old and i've always remembered it. finally found it again. absolutely love that friggin line.

  • Bill King; an icon for basketball and football announcing, and awesome in baseball. If he would have been in new york or boston, he may be in every hall of fame. The greatest sports radio announcer of all time.

  • Maddens on the field. He wants to know if its real. They say yes get your big butt outa here. He does! LOL

  • I don't a crap about what charger fans call it Go Raiders

  • I played this for a total of 6 seconds before I realized it wasnt going to include Calvin Johnson's real-life actual td catch. It was a fucking touchdown. Barry Bonds be damned, asterisk THAT shit

  • It wouldn't have mattered, but oh boy did Troy Polamalu intentionally punch that ball.

  • @Hakuromatsu It doesn't matter that it was illegal. Pats still would not have gotten the time back and they would have only had one play left to go over fifty yards against a great defense. It was a bad call I'm just saying it didn't have an impact on the result of the game.

  • @eastsidewillyb lol the first four words in my comment were "it wouldn't have mattered." I'm pretty sure you're agreeing with me =)

  • @Hakuromatsu Yeah I guess I am. lol. I was just saying it wasn't a bad idea for Troy because of the extra time that would have gone off the clock regardless of the penalty.

  • Patriots vs. Steelers brought me here

  • @Levi2Fly Me too

  • @Levi2Fly Me too. Polamalu got lucky. Heck, even a Patriots recovery would have ended the game, because they wouldn't have been able to get a play off before the gun.

  • "There's nothing real in the world anymore!"

  • has anyone noticed that the raiders in some form or another are on almost half of this list?

  • TUCK RULE, use it against raider fans if needed. BEWARE OF:

    whining

    violence.

IF DOESN'T WORK, use THE IMMACULATE RECEPTION. BEWARE OF:

    DEATH!

  • the raiders are in (i think) over half of these controversial calls.

raiders have a knack for controversy hahahahha

  • @2:31 you clearly see him under-hand throw it foward LOL.. this is a crazy play

  • First of all, I'm not whinning, you son of a bitch! And what the FUCK is this pass interference call you are you talking about?

  • LMAO. i don't see al davis complaining about this. SMH.

  • The whole thing got very metaphysical: "There's nothing real in the world anymore". I agree. Also, the mascot sums it all up.

  • thats an wsome announcer who called this play. " madden get your big butt outta here"

  • @XxLuckyShotz95 ''he does'' lol

  • Thankfully, this was just a regular season game and not a playoff game.

  • @Coganboy OOH! I Soooooo agree with you there brother. The Charger fans just wont shut up about it. Hell, they beat us later on that season anyway. So, justice served.

  • @Oaklandgirlpitlover1 yet Oakland still complains about the Tuck rule

  • @HarbingerGunner First of all, the Holy Roller was NOT a playoff game. Plus, The rule was changed the very next year. From that piont on, this play will never happen again. That bullshit tuck rule should be changed too. Tom Brady ADMITS HE FUMBLED THE BALL. It was a fumble. EVERYBODY in the free world knows this. Patriots fans of course, are just grinning from ear to ear because no amount of angry tirades by angry Raiders fans is going to change anything.

  • @Oaklandgirlpitlover1 doesnt change the fact that Oakland STILL complains about. Get over it, you guys went, and lost, the Superbowl the next year anyways. The Tuck Rule was upheld correctly, it was just a stupid rule to begin with. And of course Brady will say he fumbles, basic politics, he doesnt want to be the bad guy.

  • @HarbingerGunner Its easy for non Raider fans to say "GET OVER IT". You never really get over it. You just live with it. Depending on how bad the misfortune. Brady Fumbled, he knows it. And he dosn't give 2 shits about being the bad guy.

  • @Oaklandgirlpitlover1 i guess it is harder to let go of a loss when all your team did sense then was spiral into the bottom of the barrel. i bet if oakland was still a top tier team with at least 1 superbowl win NO ONE. would be talking about the tuck rule. Bu hey, this makes up for the pass interference call, right?

  • @HarbingerGunner You've GOT to be a Patriots fan, with the fucked up comments you are making.

  • @Oaklandgirlpitlover1 you have GOT to be an Oakland fan, with all of the whining you're doing...and you name. But hey, an eye for an eye right? you get the bogus Pass interference and the Pats will keep the Tuck Rule. All's fair. But ill be honest, i wasnt alive for the PI call, so guess it really doesn't affect me.

  • @Oaklandgirlpitlover1

Nfl analysts have determined that it was in fact the proper interpretation of the tuck rule. Now here's how to get to the video where this happens. On google, search "nfl total access top 10 controversial calls" and it should be the first link there. The tuck rule is number 2 on that list. I'll let you watch and decide for yourself.

  • @patsrule213 That rule should be eliminated. It is total bullshit. And at the end, Rich Eisen says "I'm on a posse to get rid of that rule". Fuck the interpretation. If someone hits you in the head with a baseball bat, and I tell you my "INTERPRETATION", "Oh, he was just trying to swat that fly on your head", and therefore no charges should be pressed agaisnt the jerkoff that hit you. Guess what? You are still injured, bleeding and mad. Do you REALLY give a fuck about "INTERPRETATION" NOW?

  • @Oaklandgirlpitlover1

The tuck rule can be bullshit. And the thing with the bat and the fly is insane. What does an arm going forward have to do with someone being so stupid and violent. What's wrong with you? The proper interpretations of bullshit rules means that it was the right call. And I looked at the standings; if the Chargers won this game, they would have been in the playoffs instead of the Oilers. And why complain about the tuck rule when the refs hand you this game? The holy (cont.)

  • @ 2:34 this one will be relived... forever

  • Comment removed

  • You can't really blame the ref for blowing this call. From the way he was positioned, he couldn't see Stabler's arm going fowards, so he had to rule fumble. Unfortunately for the Raiders (and all other teams who may have thought about trying a similar play), they changed the rule for the next season, so there will never be another Holy Roller play in NFL history.

  • @Eclipton Right, plus, that'd been an auto instant replay in a half-second.

  • @Eclipton

But from the angle that was given, where the player was and how far the ball traveled, it couldn't have possibly been a fumble. The ref should have realized this and ruled it incomplete.
