@kaffylina Depends on the drug and depends on the individual. My friend who is schizophrenic has told me that she is a psychopath is the medical sense and doesn't feel any concern for others. she used to tell me about how she would think about murdering people and it didn't bother her at all. She eventually got put on some drugs and she said that helped her a lot. She has gotten her life back and even has a decent job now, where before she couldn't work.
@gaozhi2007 Hi there :) I can totally understand and I do hope that your friend has a really happy life, honestly. What bothers me and what I have come to know, as I have done a lot of research, is that why the people are put on drugs which are inserted in the body for treating something that is purely mental. To this day my friend, I haven't heard a decent answer on that. Also, those who are on meds are like 'cursed' to live with them for as long as they live.. they never get well. Why...?
@kaffylina drugs are definetly overused in the US in my opinion. I am trying to research it when I get some time. I have found several good books you can find on amazon or the library: "Overdosed America: The Broken Promise of American Medicine" and "Selling Sickness: How the World's Biggest Pharmaceutical Companies Are Turning Us All Into Patients"
PROZAC (Fluoxetine) and all other medicines in the SSRI group are extremely dangerous. Aggression and suicidal attempts were observed in clinical trials.
CLINICAL TRIALS
Test series may be stopped if there are difficulties. One such "difficulty" is when test persons die(!)
The regulations for clinical trials are such that manufacturers themselves write the protocols. They only publish results which are favourable for themselves. Results of terminated trials need not be published.
A patient told me last week he was sitting in the exit row on a plane and had an incredible urge to rip open the emergency door at 30,000 feet. His drug? Chantix. The most violent drug out of all of them.
Right on, Michael. Here I am agreeing with MM. I'm glad he lost the hat. These drugs are largely petrochemically based and are designed to treat the 380 mental disorders in the DSM like ADD, none of which meet the medical criteria of an illness or disease - none. No origin, no pathogen and no cure = unending treatment = big bucks! Chemical imbalance? Where's the lab test? There is none. The US is the only 1st world country to allow direct marketing of drugs to consumers.
A vast percentage of people experience horrendous withdrawal reactions when trying to get off psychotropic drugs, including homicidal and suicidal thoughts.
Great video; we have to insist on safer forms of medicine; we must begin to refuse ConMed drugs; we must begin to rediscover traditional, or natural forms of medicine such as homeopathy.
My cousin hung himself on Effexor. He told his doctor that the medication was making him feel worse....his doctors response was to increase his dosage. A couple of weeks later, his daughter found him dead in their basement.
Met Dr. Tracy, from whom this info is from, several yrs. ago. Most, if not all school and workplace shootings have been attributed to anti-depressant drugs. They increase the uptake of serotonin levels in the brain which cannot metabolize this much serotonin.
A father, holding his newborn baby, was suddenly tempted to throw his baby off a balcony, but refrained from doing so. When he finally got off the anti-depressant drug he was on, his wife remarked that it was like living w/Jekyl/Hyde
For those of us that have been following the result of psychotropic medications for many years, this comes as quite a relief. I sat through the entire "Columbine" film wondering if he would ever get at the true cause and was disappointed that he never did. It was similar to seeing a story about drunk driving that never got around to mentioning alcohol.
I hope Mr. Moore takes his new knowledge and runs with it.
Look at the system. They "invent" some chemical they can patent (so they can profit), then they figure out what they can use it for- who to market it to. They invent diseases and then advertize these invented disorders to create customers.
He is so right. It's the hidden epidemic that no one can admit to. But I see it before my eyes. I went to work after the Thanksgiving holidays a few years back, and the girl sitting across from me had to go to a funeral. Her nephew had committed suicide. I asked him, knowing what I know, if he had been on a psychiatric drug. She told me that he had been put on Prozac two weeks before his suicide. It's a drug that makes people suicidal. Is that help? Huh?
It is very funny seeing people advertising their books. I want to have it written by Michael Moore if it was Dr. Tracy's book that he was alerted of a fact that is being discussed by many who are a little bit well informed.
Now Bob! There you have Bob Whitaker doing another marketing. Who is next?
A great book on this topic is "Anatomy of an Epidemic" by Robert Whitaker, an award-winning science writer who proves, based on solid scientific evidence, that many widely prescribed psychiatric meds make people crazier, not better. He also wrote "Mad in America" which exposes the whole psychiatric profession and its collusion with profit-greedy Big Pharma. Michael Moore is right on this one.
3 occurences on my street alone were attempted suicide, suicide and attempted manslaughter, in the 90's... each of which had people who were on prozac. This is an upper middle class low crime neighborhood as well.
I absolutely detest Michael Moore with a passion, but for once I'm agreeing with him on some points. I don't believe that prescription drugs are the CAUSE, but I do believe they don't help matters one bit.
@LeighMet You obviously can't look at the real relationship between cause & effect. Obviously you have zero reality on how these drugs can warp a person's mind. I would bet that you work for a Pharmaceutical comp[any.
@KurtRussell1963 I work as a documentarian first of all. I have took prozac for 16 years until I was moved to bluprein I believe is the correct spelling for it and I have never wanted to shoot up my school or workplace.
@LeighMet sorry to hear you were on prozac. read the side effects. read about what Eli Lilly did to get it approved. Basically lied to the FDA about the people who died from it.
@KurtRussell1963 IN the 1950's Teen Deliquiency was way up. Parents thought if we get censor comic books and get rid of rock and roll the madness will stop. Tell me are some teenagers still commiting violence?
@LeighMet why is that ridiculous? did you go through 1 year of withdrawal from these psychotic drugs like i did? do you know 1st hand how they make you feel like me?? did you study the withdrawal effects and the side effects from these drugs for 4 years like i have??
@kaneakeluh no Ive just been taking ritian for 20 years and prozac for 17 until I switched to Budeperian I believe is the name and I have not killed anyone.Your logic is flawwed and you are looking for something to blame.
@LeighMet Why are you on these DRUGS? Have you ever tried coming off? Eventually these DRUGS will not work (they dont work anyways , your just brainwashed into believing they do) I thought these drugs were the shit until I tried coming off. It is called withdrawal. While i was in withdrawal , i was homicidal and suicidal. google ssri stories, benzo withdrawal, paxil progress the ashton manuals , do your own research. save your life.
@LeighMet It hardly seems fair to yourself to declare that you need to be medicated for these reasons when you have not given yourself a chance to try life without meds. for well over a decade. You are 33. You have been medicated more then half your life. You should really start looking for alternatives and Stop being a cash cow for the pharmacutical companies. Google those web sites. Prozac awareness is another one.
@LeighMet There are web sites out there that can help you get off your meds. Most doctors are oblivious to the dangers of these drugs let alone know how to have a patient tapper off of them. They usually have them do it way to fast which leads to horrible withdrawal that the doctor usually misdiagnoses as a "relapse" and then they try to medicate it again, sending the patient down a horrible spiral of deterioration.
@LeighMet You need to go real slow coming off of these pills. You can not cold turkey or do a rapid tapper.Google paxil progress. They will help you with any antidepressant you are on. Im not your enemy. I truely do not want what happend to me, happen to anyone else. Please ,do some research. Take care.
@kaneakeluh Well in that time their have been days or even weeks when I have gone off the named medications. When I do that I become more depressed unfoucused and in some cased paranoid.
@LeighMet If your saying that I'm comparing it to street drugs then yes, except a herion addict would only go through the withdrawal process for about a week or 2. With these drugs,it takes a hell of alot longer if you tapper off of them to fast or go cold turkey. You would need to go real slow, sometimes using a compounding pharmasist to come off of these drugs which could take months to a year or more depending on what your on,how much your on and how long.
@LeighMet Have you researched any of the info I gave you or are you still going to fight me on this? Do what you want.Im telling you my story and the absolute hell "I" went through and what I've researched for 4 1/2 years. I would of prefered to of been a herion addict then go through what I went through. Period!!!! Ritilan, and every antidepressant and benzodiazepine and for that matter quinolone antibiotics KILLS!!
First of all Ritalin is not a SSRI. It is speed or amphetamine. It doesn't cause hallucination.
SSRI does and I know. I was medicated with SSRI 20 years ago and hallucinated big time and it was worse after the withdrawal. I tried to warn people about it and finally someone like Michael Moore reveals the truth.
@LeighMet Every individual has genetic differences (look up the term 'SNPs') which can be alterin protein structures (proteins are in most cases the target of drugs). Such SNPs can alter protein structures and thus lead to different reactions to the same medication in different people. Just because one individual does not experience adverse effects doesn't mean nobody does...
@LeighMet and also. why in the hell has your doctor had you on these mind altering drugs for this long?? that is criminal!!!! and who and the hell am i blaming? what are you talking about??
I would have to disagree with you on this one to a degree. Bullying is the number one reason these kids struck back.. Do I think what they did was right? Of course not, but I can certainly understand how it happened. Teachers and staff turning a blind eye and the cruelty of other students were equally responsible for what happened at Columbine. It is time to quit ignoring and come up with an action to educate so this will not happen again!
The cause needs a true sayer like Michael with the distribution an production networks to keep on pounding at the door so to speak. Make them squirm. We are all dollar bills to corporations and our lives mean nothing in terms of the bottom line of making a "block-buster" pharmaceutical drug.
@ritmotraveler So true. It's weed that brings people together. After making connections with fellow students who are also smokers, the idea of killing others as well as yourself seems stupid.
@ritmotraveler- Yeah, 'cept for VT, huh? Asian dude killed a lot more than so many crazy white boys. There was one shooter who was of Native American descent, too.
@Jurassic0Al Hmm, lets do the math you say a lot more, facts are a lot less, 2 killed in VT and 12 killed in Columbine. And who was this shooter of Native American descent, where's the proof, I'll wait. And what is VT is that a county or a town?
@ritmotraveler- Cho killed 32, 19 more than Harris and Klebold combined. Who was the other guy? Jeff Weise, of Red Lake Senior High School. He's got a wikipedia article like the rest of them. There's your proof. And VT is neither a city nor a town. That is short for Virginia Tech, a college in Blacksburg, Virginia, where Seung-Hui Cho was a student.
@ritmotraveler- If Cho and Weise "look white" to you simply because they aren't black there's no convincing you of anything. Yes, I read what you wrote before. It was stupid, blaming all the shootings on white people. It is still stupid. I mean, I cannot tell you how unpleasant it is to find someone who views race in as bizarre a way as you do.
@Jurassic0Al STFU, you white racist cracker MOFU, you and your racist kind will be wiped off the face of this planet soon enough, you heathen bastard KKK POS.
@ritmotraveler- Ha ha ha! Like so many people, you reveal the truth when confronted with it. You show you you really are under fire. I never said anything racist in any part of our interaction. You have no grounds on which to launch your ridiculous tirade against me. If you have some problem with white people, just tell the truth and say so. You see racism in me when you're really looking in the mirror.
@ritmotraveler- Oh, wow. Yeah, *I* "spewed racism" in not one but all of my comments here. Okay, prove it. Let me see these racist comments I supposedly wrote. And lest we forget, *you're* the one who just proposed lynching *me*. Assuming I read that correctly. I don't think I could have made a mistake with that last sentence, since I never wrote that.
There is no magic bullet(sorry no pun intended) to solve the reasoning of the two students that committed this horrbile act. Society as a whole failed them and their victims by not catching the warning signs befor their killing spree. I am not saying that anyone fate that day was deserved but rather could have been avoided. Parents do not assume your child is ok or doing fine make the effort and talk to your kids inspect their rooms and never assume that because you are happy they are aswell.
Sad so many police that day were complete cowards, who calmly sat a few hundred ft away in safety while screaming children were murdered in the Library
I was on prozac for a year and a half and personally never experienced this. I think its a bit of a cop out. Though noone truely knew what was going through their minds or what the cause was, i see it as their desire for power and recognition.
two jews who hated christians. Plain and simple. If jews spent more time to to assimilate, instead of grouping together and trying to scheme against everyone because their hate-religion tells them to, they might not be so confused and frustrated.
'..an investigation in terms of what prescriptions they were taking..'
umm, so u dont even know what pills they were on, just felt the need to throw out that blind assertion & then go into a rant about prozac which the columbine kids were not on b/c u would have said so. The real reason? gimme a fucking break thats just as absurd as the marilyn manson claims.
How bout they were bullied & the rest of the blame lies w/ the parents
And Finally, the fact that they were going to graduate was the "ending" that Borderline people are ACTUALLY VIOLENTLY afraid of... Basically, Borderline people want to BE borderline, and REACT to any attempt to HELP or LEAVE them.
It is THE MOST SELF INDULGENT of disorders and THAT is why they HAD to have such SPECTACULAR ending to their stupid friendship.
Do you know what happened to the "Shooter" types at MY HIGH school in the 80's 90's??? They went mental hospitals. I'm totally serious.
Michael Moore wants to blame the drug companies because they have the money, but he knows darn well that the reason those drugs are ineffective is because they are being dispensed in a REAL enviornment, and not in mental hospitals where they belong.
Dylan was clearly Borderline Schizophrenic. There is a picture of his mom after the murder where I can SEE the MEDICAL signs of schizophrenia on her FACE. ERIC was BORDERLINE and not from the area.
TOO MANY FUCKING MENTALS are running around having MENTAL children like 16 and Pregnant. THOSE are the FUTURE shooters, and everyone is sitting around like DUH... why is this happening?... as they watch it unfold in front of them?
@questionauthoritah Then why are you on this page??? You know darn well Michael Moore makes amazing documentaries. REMEMBER, it's only a movie. HE takes it to the next level.
I have never seen such a pointless video. Some meds do say that some serious side effects are thoughts of suicide which is why it always says to contact your doctor if you have thoughts of Suicide. DUHHHHHHH. All this video was, was a rambling of Obvious statements made by a retard.
I can't believe the number of people calling bullshit on this. Sure, that's Michael Moore. Sensational propagandist. Fine. He is right about the anti-depressants. Do your homework. Don't go crying to the psychiatrist about how shitty life is, or it will probably get worse for you.
"why them, why did they do this" Because they were nuts, some people are, there is not a whole lot you can do about it, the question should be how do we stop these people from killing others? Moores answer is making guns illegal, but wait, killing people is illegal and that didnt stop them, why is that? Because they obviously do not care for the law and banning guns would just stop good people from defending themselves and the public from nuts.
THIS GUY IS A FAT FUCKING LIAR. Throughout the whole movie his justification for how he knew what he was talking about was that he was from Flint Michigan which is a shithole. In actuality he grew up in a town called Davidson or something which is basically a suburban area around a shopping mall.
everyones just mad that moore had the balls to break the ice on the controversy of guns. someone had to do it. its not that hes one hundred percent right but it needed to be talked about. he made some very good points in the documentary.
@brittyk22 More like 100 percent incorrect. He made stupid points in the film and i find it disguting how he used such a tragedy as a leverage for is BS liberal agenda. He said that guns were the problem, but it is the people that was the problem and that the only reasons this happned is because of strict gun laws that only allowed for criminals to own guns.
moores got a point, those kids were crazy to begin with but i thik the meds they were on only made them worse, but i still think that regardless of medication they were gunna do the massacre anyway, those kids needed to b like institutionalized...
Moore is an idiot. For all the "research" that he is expected to have done in creating this documentary, he understood NOTHING. I wonder, given his subsequent history, if he wasn't one of those "verbal bullies", that we have all crossed paths with in High School, that contributed to the mass-murder at Columbine.
@elit0610 how? he was right in farenhiet 911, bowling for columbine, sicko and capitalism... the only thing i disagree with is blaming guns themselves. our constitution cleary states we can have guns. prescription drugs played a bigger role in columbine then the guns did

This guy has begun to redeem himself now.
Too much of his earlier work was "ambush journalism" and filming circumstances that he and his crew had cleverly arranged.
I think he's maturing as a more-ethical information provider.
Because smarts--without ethics--create havoc.

A patient told me last week he was sitting in the exit row on a plane and had an incredible urge to rip open the emergency door at 30,000 feet. His drug? Chantix. The most violent drug out of all of them.
Darren1111 10 months ago

Momntheno 10 months ago
For those of us that have been following the result of psychotropic medications for many years, this comes as quite a relief. I sat through the entire "Columbine" film wondering if he would ever get at the true cause and was disappointed that he never did. It was similar to seeing a story about drunk driving that never got around to mentioning alcohol.
I hope Mr. Moore takes his new knowledge and runs with it.

Most all pharmacetical drugs are garbage.

AnaLimaLuiza 10 months ago
A great book on this topic is "Anatomy of an Epidemic" by Robert Whitaker, an award-winning science writer who proves, based on solid scientific evidence, that many widely prescribed psychiatric meds make people crazier, not better. He also wrote "Mad in America" which exposes the whole psychiatric profession and its collusion with profit-greedy Big Pharma. Michael Moore is right on this one.

LeighMet 8 months ago
@LeighMet It hardly seems fair to yourself to declare that you need to be medicated for these reasons when you have not given yourself a chance to try life without meds. for well over a decade. You are 33. You have been medicated more then half your life. You should really start looking for alternatives and Stop being a cash cow for the pharmacutical companies. Google those web sites. Prozac awareness is another one.
kaneakeluh 8 months ago 3
@kaneakeluh I have gone days without the stuff and could not focus. I feel depressed off the medication
LeighMet 8 months ago
@LeighMet There are web sites out there that can help you get off your meds. Most doctors are oblivious to the dangers of these drugs let alone know how to have a patient tapper off of them. They usually have them do it way to fast which leads to horrible withdrawal that the doctor usually misdiagnoses as a "relapse" and then they try to medicate it again, sending the patient down a horrible spiral of deterioration.
kaneakeluh 8 months ago
@LeighMet You need to go real slow coming off of these pills. You can not cold turkey or do a rapid tapper.Google paxil progress. They will help you with any antidepressant you are on. LeighMet 8 months ago

First of all Ritalin is not a SSRI. It is speed or amphetamine. It doesn't cause hallucination.
SSRI does and I know. I was medicated with SSRI 20 years ago and hallucinated big time and it was worse after the withdrawal. I tried to warn people about it and finally someone like Michael Moore reveals the truth.
munchichi8 1 month ago
@LeighMet Every individual has genetic differences (look up the term 'SNPs') which can be alterin protein structures (proteins are in most cases the target of drugs). Such SNPs can alter protein structures and thus lead to different reactions to the same medication in different people. Just because one individual does not experience adverse effects doesn't mean nobody does...

Of course not, but I can certainly understand how it happened. Teachers and staff turning a blind eye and the cruelty of other students were equally responsible for what happened at Columbine. It is time to quit ignoring and come up with an action to educate so this will not happen again!

ritmotraveler 10 months ago
@ritmotraveler- Cho killed 32, 19 more than Harris and Klebold combined. Who was the other guy? Jeff Weise, of Red Lake Senior High School. He's got a wikipedia article like the rest of them. There's your proof. And VT is neither a city nor a town. That is short for Virginia Tech, a college in Blacksburg, Virginia, where Seung-Hui Cho was a student.

There is no magic bullet(sorry no pun intended) to solve the reasoning of the two students that committed this horrbile act. Society as a whole failed them and their victims by not catching the warning signs befor their killing spree. I am not saying that anyone fate that day was deserved but rather could have been avoided.
