To makes matters worst the whole world is under the control of Satan (1 John 5:19; 2 Corinthians 4:3,4) Even if humans were somehow able to achieve peace because they are under Satan's control that peace would be short lived. God's Kingdom, the same kingdom Jesus spoke of at Matthew 6:9,10, is the only way true peace will be achieved. This is the ONLY solution to peace. (Ps 37:10,11)

When I was a teenager I loved violence. As I got older I realized violence is wrong because I don't want to be harmed and I'm no better or worse than any other living creature and the only reason one would think differently is because of ego. One way we build our ego (the story of "me") is by identifying with ideologies. If you identify yourself as X, those who are Y are seen as different. This is where alienation starts and enemies are found. If you let go of ego there is no enemy.
The problem is that in nature, it's much easier to get what you want with violence. People will always have disagreements, and when this occurs on a larger scale, countries go to war. Diplomacy and negotiating only goes so far before natural instinct kicks in and shots are fired.
@LauraLeighClarke Been wondering the same thing, then I talked to my yoga instructor (she's the owner of the studio) and on peace day (sept 21st) we've decided to get a local band and have a donation street yoga class, and any money will be sent to the peace one day organization. good morals-> religion=/= morals
plain spirituality-> no god-figure required, otherwise it's just religion
theocracy-> see al-Qaida, dominionism, middle ages, republicans (only as much peace or humanitarianism as necessary= not much)
We've seen the true self-serving face of religion over the centuries, usually masked as "wars to bring 'peace'"

I started this comment to say I'll participate in the "One day of peace" ...then I remembered peace is a natural state every day if one is in the moment (oh dear this comment is so different than I thought it would be when I started) ...perhaps I should stop and just be at peace... oh so now it is about choice...yikes! ...back to what I typed before ...stilling the mind is one way to remembering peace

amazing talk ... i myself have spent alot of time thinking about peace how can we make people not hate each other stop violence etc... what i came up with is like that ... peace is a very fragile state and one mans lust for power of any kind can break it , that lust is just inevitable and will happen. @SEThatered you sound as if being lazy is better than doing something. all of our lives we try to achive things and those things that we try to achive are what keeps us alive giving us reason to continue living we all must have some sort of a goal otherwise life have no meaning coming from that point you can conclude that people will try to compete over same goals eventualy leading to conflict also it is silly to conclude that if gathering food takes effort the default state for us is hunger...
