  • I love this guy, so glad I discovered him.

  • Saw him at the Mariposa festival in Toronto in the early 70's. He was great then. Obviously he still is great. He really inhabits those songs.

  • I hate it how people are racist. Like seriously it has nothing to do with him being white or black. Yeah, Blake people invented this music but only because white racist pricks were treating them terribly.

  • Hi,Great channel ***** Love your voice,

and I like the Martin Sound! I´ve got the same guitar...

    Wish you all the best,

    greetings from germany, Uli

  • John Lee Hookeresque

  • has anyone got the video of him singing "my daddy was a jockey"

  • @johnkongaroo

saw him do it on TV many years ago. also have him doing it on a Star Licks VHS tape from 1991. don't know if that's still available. good song. one of my fav's from him tho i like all his stuff.

  • @HotBlueChrome star licks i think. it was a long time ago. i sure wish to see that again. hopefully someone will post it.

  • HEY!!!! I am related to him...distantly of course...but it still counts!

  • ... should be more of this on youtube :D

  • There some musicians I've never seen live that I really want to see before I die, and John Hammond, Jr has always been one of them. He looks more like his father all the time. How I hope to see him in concert some day. - writeroffthelake at Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio's oldest summer resort

  • Hope you do ! I saw him in Toronto, Massey Hall, early '70s, and Whitehorse, Yukon, maybe, '94ish.......Fabulous Talent !

  • ...oh please post again the 'spider & the fly' video ! ...this guy is NOT imitating anyone, check his history blueswilly...scrub,fingerpick,sing and harp WELL! there aint many that talented...

  • He is definitely heart of the blues, one of the very few whites to actually GET IT including Spider John Koerner and eric Clapton. I worked with John H at the Back Door club in Ventura years ago, Lightnin' (Sam) Hopkins was backstage with us too. He liked what Jr did a lot.

So whoever the asshole is who said he was not a bluesman doesn't know shit. Get back to your bubblegum teenybopper glamrock blues. Robert Johnson started it all with the first blues recordings.

  • Quite simply, John Hammond is one of the most talented and dedicated blues men alive today.

A thorough gentleman no less as well.

  • this couldnt be more offensive if he was eating watermelon and stealing chickens at the same time

  • yeah, judging by this video, John Hammond wishes he was black.

  • Your opinion doesn't seem to be shared by the many black bluesmen that John Hammond has shared a stage with. The man can play and they didn't care what color his skin was.

  • This is the stuff man! No shreddin'/noise makin' here, just real, pierce your soul blues! PS- RJ ain't in hell, he's in heaven...

  • John Hammond represents old blues music as well as anyone alive today

  • He is the best!

  • this guy isnt a bluesman you fuckin spaz

  • You obviously wouldn't know a bluesman if you died and

bumped into Robert Johnson in Hell!! I'll bet you think a bluesman has play a Stratocaster with his volume on 11! Dipshit!

  • he is one of the very best.

  • hes one of the finest bluesmen that has ever walked the face of this fragile earth,,its just a shame footage tooooooooooo short!!!
