@Algebrodadio no it´s not necessary to aply the hairspray with the airbrush. it gives you just better controle where the hairspray should go. its like you try to paint an eye with a tank brush ^^
This is such a shame. I just can't get past the first 25 seconds. The voice is far too annoying. I really thought this would be a professional presentation. Very disappointed.
I have no clue who MassiveVoodoo is but this technique has been around in the model building scene for a VERY long time, as a matter of fact there are several how to's on dakka showing this same technique. I assume MassiveVoodoo gives props to nearly every single competition modeler that's used this technique since circa 1970? Get over yourselves, it's an informative video for those that aren't subscribers of the other guy.
@LucasLAD Couple of days ago the guys from massivevoodoo (google for it) did exactly this - this is more or less a 1:1 copy (the execution lacking the finesse of the original though) down to the general colors and all.
It's not really about the technique (which is old news) but making a kind of knock off version of an original video without giving credit. This is something people that do contribute original content to youtube don't like a lot.
@InsertDisk2 You little fucker. Okay, so she doesn't mention massivevoodoo. I searched him up, and found out his entire fucking video is in German!? How do you expect the other large % of the population of youtube to benefit from this technique when majority of people don't know the very meaning of guden taag! I respect that she possibly should have given credit, but who gives a damn? She's improving the knowledge in the community. More than I can say for pricks on the net like you. Get a life.
@Aetos325 Well, the massive voodoo guys intended to make it available to the english speaking public, as can be read on their blog (which is in english, actually). Besides, giving credit just happens on the internet - the way the net rolls. You get inspired whatever, you mention the source. Simple. Also, if you have glanced over the original video you will have noticed Girlpaintings version is much worse in skill and execution. Which is even more of a shame, as the original was done by masters.
@InsertDisk2 The problem I have with that is, that I can't sit through more than 10 seconds of the original video. I can't understand it, and I don't get past the intro.
However, for having only done it a few times, I'm sure that it can be forgiven that GP doesn't do it as well as massivevoodoo, because he's probably been doing it for far longer than GP has.
hi GP awesome video have you tried the sugar method 2? where you lay your rust, and shiney metal colours dwn first .Then while they are still wet sprinkle sugar dwn.! once the colours have dried spray your base colour dwn then let it dry then wash warm water over the sugar un it melts leaving the underlaying rust and silver to come through. hope you didnt mind me posting this on here just thought it may help some 1..!!
@WGConsortium speaking of which I need to pick your brain... When I get out of work (and off this IPhone) I will shoot you a PM I got a air compressor problem.
unfortunately it doesnt work for me, to be honest. Nothing does, i try and copy some of the stuff you do (especially painting) and always screw it up :) i guess warhammer minis dont like me :P
@REVOLUTIONMW2clan its just a matter of training...guess how long it took me to learn the stuff myself without any tutor ;-) you will get to this point one day, i promiss
Sorry but what do you had at the sponge? Thanks and excelente work.

What do you use to clean your airbrush with after the hairspray? Just water?
gluebubble 3 months ago
@gluebubble water, then alcohol, then airbrush cleaner
GirlPainting 3 months ago
Is it really necessary to use the airbrush to apply the hairspray? Could you just spray it on from the can, or would that be too thick?

Since "drybrushing" comes from the use of a brush, the demonstrated dipping-technique should be called dryfoaming. :p
Are you using Ulead Video Studio 8 by any chance? The transition effects are the same. :)

@AnixSG not hard at all. hairspray is easy to clean because it is not water resistand ;-)

@AnixSG Just a rinse with alcohol and it's gone. :)
