wish i would have seen them around this era. i just saw them about a month ago... chris stands there with a guitar the whole set... BUT they do still play all kinds of old songs. i would pay over and over to see this band.
God I miss these days. Almost twelve years later and the only listenable album to come out since then is In Reverie (and Ups and Downs), which is one of the great pop albums of that decade in my opinion. *sigh* Too bad there isn't a full set from this show. WoW! Hell Yeah! Love Saves the Day! Been listening to a lot of STD, Hey You!, The Get Up Kids, Green Day, The Offspring, and No Doubt...MORE PUNK IN 2011
Hey You! is still pretty new, but they're waaaay dope. Cool edge, and cute chick singer too :-) ...you should check em out
Ahhh brings back good memories. Too bad there wasn't youtube 11 years ago. Would have been cool to find all these live vids back in the teenage years. Saves the Day was always my favorite, still have thru being cool mp3s on my phone :)
this was it... its all different now. the musics different, chris is different :( saves the day was my life. i wish it could all go back to how it use to be. why did it have to change?
@Spaz8000 There new albums are awesome, if you are a fan of that type of music. I am so I tend to like their newer stuff more, but still I love the first 3 albums, Can't Slow Down, Through Being Cool, and Stay What You Are...are just amazing!
I saw this tour in Santa Cruz, CA. They go into a car accident on the tour somewhere. Chris's arm was in a sling, and he could barely hold the mike. The bassist's front tooth was busted in half. They were all injured in some way, but it was one of the best show's, to this day, that I have been to.
i'm 15 and chris/std are one of my heroes. people think i'm weird for liking "old music like this", but i don't care at all. most new bands in the rock scene are terrible, i must admit.
i met chris last sunday, and it was one of the greatest moments of my life.. so far. he's such a nice and genuine guy.
this was back in the day when punk was just punk, 90's where white t-shirts or black shirts and all the punks were just your average jo and now we all gotta wear skin tight pants and all black or super high spike hair to sand out, fuck i miss the days... when simplicity was the best way to go. so fuck it i went metal, but i love to listen to all my old favirotes, for me, punk died when afi wen glammy and gayish on the radio, fuck em tho right.. saves the day is still badass right on!!
@deadfordays Dude, I wouldn't say punk was just punk then. I mean Sex Pistols fans were dressing in tight clothes and tall pink mohowks since the 70's. Underground punk, bands made up of teenagers playing in their garage are what made up the average Joe's of the 90's. Bands like that are still around, you just have to know where to look.
i love this band for so many reasons, 1 def being from my home town, 2 one of the few bands who ALWAYS had fun playing their songs and looked at performing as it is, a fun time, not a money maker.
@ExUSSailor Dude don't say shit if you don't have a clue. He didn't write both albums by himself. Chris played all the instruments on can't slow down and Sean left the band before through being cool was even done. PS stay what you are is an amazing album.
i was in the hospital for 2 weeks with acute kidney failure and the only cd i listenened to was through being cool. i dont know what it was, but it got me through. thanks STD!!
Just because it is so sad. get over yourselves and just enjoy STD. You won't change anyone nore their opinions. I also know that most of you won't give two shits of what I have to say. But some of you on here need to get a life and stop making YouTube comment wars and putting other people/their comments/opinions down. Later Tater.
I'd say that STD is the most controversial band lately. Every time I listen to songs on YouTube everyone is putting someone else down about what they like or which album is the best. OK everyone, we all have our opinion on which album is the best. Does it really matter? You really need that much attention to log in to YouTube and bash someone else's opinion? It doesn't matter. Just listen to the music. Everytime I see these comments I stop myself from commenting.
yeah! we all know that through being cool is the best album so why is everyone fighting. just grow up already. cant wait to see them march 12! woot woot
Sorry I happen to think Stay what you are is their best album!!!! But every Saves the Day album (well minus In Reverie and Under the Boards) is amazing!
Saw them in San Diego on the 29th and their line up now is freaking incredible. Best STD yet!
For all the kids out there complaining about TBC era STD being the best, I imagine you just have failed to develop your musical taste. Current STD like Under the Boards and Sound the Alarm is clearly more aggressive and better quality music (production wise and in the song writing). It might not be as blatantly emotionally charged but it's definitely more sophisticated and just as brooding. Obviously SWYA and In Reverie might have been departures from the earlier STD but does that matter now?
"failed to develop your musical taste"...???? what the hell is wrong with you? it doesn't mean somebodys tastes are underdeveloped if they're different than yours. go back to the mountains and stop bothering people
what are you talking about through being cool isnt aggressive?? im pretty sure songs like banned from the back porch, or even this song is way more aggressive then any later releases. its people like you that give STD a bad name. please do us all a favor and refrain from being a music snob. and as far as in reverie being a departure and that not mattering...it does!! in reverie was a terrible album. but thats my opinion. through being cool=best saves the day album to date. deal with it.
and you should also respect that other people have their own thoughts. so what if they think that tbc is a better album then swya or sta. shit happens, deal with it.
i do respect that. but these kids have no justification for their quasi-hatred of newer std. they blow off the newer albums because they aren't tbc. but why would you want a band to not develop musically? it doesn't make sense to be SOO into a band and then abandon them through their development. i do deal with it. but i'm tired of the same cliched arguments from nostalgic, fair-weather supporters of my favorite band.
I'm not sure what you're insinuating, but Chris (the singer) has Crohn's disease. Look it up. It has everything to do with his weight fluctuation and the change in his style of singing.
this was back in the good ol days before people started wearing bright flashy-colored t-shirts and before the music scene became saturated with bands that wish they were as good as saves the day.
i dont wear bright flashy-colored- shirts and all thats stuff. i still love music like this and listen to 90´s alternative internet radio stations all day long :)
@30degreeseverywhere Please refer to the punk rock scenster handbook, "7 Seconds, young till I die" Let me know if you have questions or concerns. Did they grow up, or did you?! MOOOHAHAHA!!!!!
yeah guess they grew up...personally I like the old STD a lot more, but I sure can appreciate their later songs as well. But if I could choose, yeah, I'd definately have the old STD
man this was the best era for these guys, still love them though. i was like 13 when this video was shot wow, i had saw them for the first time like 6 months after this at jones beach, so awesome
