  • my name is megan and i am a little girl i six years old and i love horse

  • If only people would stop breeding and being indifferent to animals what a different story it would be. We are a disposable society, how sad is that.

  • canada a murdering nation!!!!!!!!!!! they can rot in hell!!!

  • T-T i cant even watch this kind of stuff sometimes.

what the fuck has human kind become?

  • Thank you for saving this little horse's life. I am so sick of the horses being abuse in the USA, Canada and especially in Mexico. I will try to help with all my heart. Why hasn't this abuse been broadcast to the general public. I'm am so sick of this and why the US Government, the media machine doesn't want the American public to know the horror show of the slaugther houses in Mexico and Canada. This is very painful to my heart, I have always loved horses and always will.

  • This is sick.

    sad too.

  • I went to this auction with the owner of the farm i take lessons at not expecting to buy anything but we ended up taking home a chestnut pony with a small star. Best decision of my life :)

  • i love this horse he is at my barn now and he is so sweet!! :D

  • he so cutte!! but how were able to get the horse?

  • Thank you, once again, for all your work, Twyla! I'm glad Charlie's story has a happy ending, but there are 100,000 others not so fortunate. We must NOT forget them.

  • Thankyou Twyla for all you do to help these forgotten horses. Your courage is more than admirable. Please, everyone who cares for horses and animals in general. We must hold the government accountable for their lack of regulation. Write your local mps. Visit CDHC to see what you can do to improve the fate of these poor animals. This is not right and public pressure is a powerful weapon. Please turn your frustration and anger into action.

  • I have to wonder....what happened to Charlie since Second Chance has closed it's doors & is selling everything off ???

    Hopefully they humanly euthanized him.

  • Hi there - Charlie has been rehomed and is living at a farm in Ontario where is loved and well cared for. He now has paddock mates - 2 little minis that are like teddy bears. Charlie is very happy! Thanks for asking!

  • Nice to see a happy ending for a change. Way to go!

  • I am heartsick by the way we treat animals in the US and Canada. Together someday we can end horse slaughter and the pain we cause on animals. Charlie is so cute. Thank you for saving him.

"The eyes, circled by his sad and beautiful darkness, were so sorrowful, lonely, gentle, and nobly tragic, that they killed all other emotions except love."

  • What is truly sad is that while an investigation conducted on Natural Valley Farms-a slaughterhouse in Canada showed willful cruelty to horses and clear evidence of violations of at least 5 different Acts, the federal government chose to do nothing! They didn't even investigate. The day has come where citizens need to stand up for these animals-the government will not do it for us.

Please continue spreading the word about horse slaughter and write your politicians demanding an answer.

  • Beautiful courageous work, both the photographer's and the rescuers.....

thank you on behalf of us all...

  • Thank you for helping get the word out that these beautiful horses and ponies are taken from the farms and race tracks and slaughtered to provide - not food for starving people - no just for gourmet meals in Europe and Asia. Thank God, Charlie is safe. Help the rest of these beautiful animals!
