  • Yeh I'll song it!!

  • Wow !!The best of the best . I'm going to learn this also and song it to any anyone who will listen.

  • What a treasure. This is now the song i sing and play every time i pick up my guitar.

(my wife even sings it around the house too, although she sings 'Jimmy get your finger out')

  • You have to hunt far and wide to find this on radio. not that you would ever hear this classic on radio today.

  • This song is a lesson to all us songwriters because he uses more compact syllabification in the chorus than he does in the verses.

  • This Canadian grew up on Jimmy Driftwood :-)

    brought back memories.

  • One of my favorite songs from childhood! Thanks so much for posting it!

  • Jimmy sang this to his students to teach American history. We sure could use teachers like this today!

  • The wonders of the internet! I never thought I would hear this song again. Thanks!

  • I remember meeting Jimmy more than once as a young man he would perform for my uncle and times I remember him being at the house or us at his house

  • "everybody loves to hear the Soldiers Joy" My favorite version of my favorite folk song! Thanks more than I can express for posting this. What a treasure!
