First off, no assault was committed. There can be no assault if the act does not produce a true apprehension of harm in the victim. There must be a reasonable fear of injury. Simply pushing a camera out of her way (which was interfering with her work) is not assault.

Question: why don't you press charges against the cop who kept grabbing the camera? The more people who press charges against cops the better. They can only sweep away so many charge. If only one or two complaints come in of course they will just get filed away.
But if many people constantly file legitimate charges against the police then the volume will be too much for their broom to handle.

Those officers were extraordinarily well behaved.
No beatings, tackles, tazing, or arresting the people with cameras. Yeah, they still enforced a dumb law, but they did better than some of the other cops I see.

Lemonade is not the point. You have to have a permit to vend on capital grounds. It applies to everyone. If I want to sell T-shirts, I need a permit. If I want to have a bakesale, I need a permit. What can the federal government do? It's up to the states to decide which laws they want to enforce. Do I think the lemonade stand law in Midway, Ga is stupid? Sure. But when you try to involve the federal government in a state's affairs, you run into 10th Amendment issues.
