It wasn't due to racism that Caidic wasn't chosen by the NBA scouts. The 80s NBA had nowhere near as bad the racism that the likes of Russell and The Big O had during their era. Allan Caidic is an outstanding shooter, even to this day he could still shoot the lights out. But he simply didn't have the physical gifts to play his natural position: SG/SF at the NBA level. He is only 6'2, he would've had to play PG. He never developed the hands nor the speed to play point. He's a shooter.

OK, the man could definitely shoot, but it's just one aspect of the sport, and would've needed alot more to be NBA ready. He didn't have the physique, durability, and stamina, to not only play 82 games a year, but also bump heads with the NBA pros. It pains me to say, but sorry Allan. If it's any consolation, you're still my basketball hero though.

as much as i love Allan Caidic, I don't think he would've been able to compete in the NBA. At his size, he would've had to play point, he never really developed a point's handle of the ball. For the sake of argument, let's just say that he's a 6'8 guard/forward instead, he still would have had to defend and score against Drexler, Miller at the guard spots, and Pippen, Thomas, and Jordan.

At best, by the time his career was over in the NBA, they would probably compare him to Peja Stojakovic or Linas Kleiza. These players are 6'6 and above, which doesnt mean that you have to be tall to be good.

He'd fit in as a role player, but to dominate in his prime, which were the days that magic and Jordan still were there? That is not very likely.

Caidic would have no problem hitting the NBA 3. Some of the best 3 pt shooters in the NBA are European and grew up shooting from 20ft 6in, the FIBA 3pt line, 1ft 6in closer than the PBA line and 3ft 3in closer than NBA line. Ex: Nowitski, Stojakovic, Turkoglu. Not to mention the American NBA players that shot from 19ft 9in in high school and NCAA. Because numbers are how you measure everything. When Arenas & Stevenson were shooting, they kept score with NUMBERS. FT line distance is same everywhere. That alone Caidic is better than those 2, not even mentioning the streak. Also PBA players of Caidic's days were 6 inches shorter than NBA counterparts. Subject here is shooting. Caidic's natural playing position was small/power forward, because that is the role of a 6'2 Filipino player in those days. Sun Yue (6'8) played for the Lakers last year. Caidic's only weakness was defense. A 6'8 version would have played a couple of seasons in the late 80s early 90s NBA.

shooting coach? you must be high! The only reason why he's making half of those shots because no one is guarding him. It is totally different when shooting in a real game. NBA players are elite the best in the world and they can shoot better than this guy a thousand times.
