My pastor use to always tell this story about the first time he heard this song...and he knew exactly where he was headed if he had kept on the path that he was on at the time... He would go on to tell how he got on the RIGHT PATH...He said he would never forget that moment nor this song... Well he passed 2 days ago...and all I can picture is.......
HIM STANDING TALL, HOLDING HIS HEAD UP HIGH, SMILING AND WALKING INTO GLORY SINGING THIS SONG... REST IN PEACE PASTOR J!!!!!!
She sure did. She went be yonder to be with the Lord. But the echo of her golden voice remains with us still. No place like Love Center when it comes to worshiping. They go deep deep. As a migrant of a different nationality living then at a not so fortunate neighborhood, Oakland, CA I felt a strange love for the first time toward the Lord Jesus Christ when I heard this Walter Hawkins album first came out 1975. Thank you sister Hawkins, you have ministered deep to my heart.
This morning, God answered a childhood prayer of mine. This song has always touched me and I've always said, "Wow! I hope I see her sing this live before she dies". I knew the song was older than me but I never knew who the soloist was or how old she was. I thought seeing her sing it live was far fetched....until 2day!! She visited my church and sang this song! I was overcome with gratefulness and amazed at how God loves answering even our "little" prayers. I love you Lord!
i love metal and rock, but i also love this gospel music. hearing it just makes me think that its all gonna be alright. thats pretty powerful for a song to make you feel like that. may the good lord shine a light on all yall. UP THE IRONS FROM LOUISIANA

Tramine put her all into this song.... for those that has lost a family member and this song fills your heart... just let it be known that that family member fills that same pain... i lost a favorite cousin and she told me this... that when she goes on home that i will always be with her... stay blessed friends.
My grandmas niece sung this song at my grandma's going home celeabration. I miss her soo muchthis song brings tears to my eyes everytime i hear it. RIP Grandma 04/06/08

And as God, as God gives me grace... I'VE GOT TO RUN... I'VE GOT TO RUN... I'VE GOT TO RUN...and run on and run on and run on and run on and run on and runnnnn on!

This the funeral song that has been sang at everyone's funeral since it's release back in the 70's. This and It's so Hard to Say Goodbye toYesterday, from Cooley High, ranks number one and two!!! I still love this song, because, we were one of the Choirs singing it!!!

@lsm1983ia Well, In my opinion I think that there should be a request day. You know, a day where you can just request old songs. Thank God for You tube right? So whatever song the Christ place on your heart you can automatically go there.
I really love this song. Even as a kid when this song played, all I knew was I wanted to see the Lord, and if up a yonder was where he was, I wanted to get there.
I heard this song, at every funeral that I attended as a lil girl. Just learned to appreciate the words as a full grown christian...Going up to be with almighty..Hallelujah...
@JazzyJZ52 I used to hate this song as a kid. I'd say "What is up yonder?" I'm 40 now, stumbled across it on Youtube, and was moved to tears. The lyrics, the choir, just hits me in my soul.
This song reminds of The House of Prayer in knoxville tn. Rev Joseph Gordon. My grandmother preached at his church. I remember hearing the choir sing this song. It leaves a feelin of peace.
I LOVE IT! ONE OF MY FAV!!!!! Im 42 now, and its just as fresh sounding as it was when my family had me to sing it for them. whether it was church ,home or where ever. So it has a special place in my heart!
Dearest David: You played this for me so many times in those troubled times in 1978, when we thought we had it all. What we had was lots of material things and the money to buy our happiness, which was always so short -lived. Then you got really sick and left us to go to that better place. I'm still here, but when I listen to this I "see" you clearly and you're telling me that that place you're in is just beautiful and filled with so much love. I so look forward to seeing you again!
Oh my, i was 2 when this came out but I remember my mama playing it all the time. Who would have thought that 34 years later I would remember it and find so much peace in listening to it.
@klomb4 MY MOM N GRANDMA PLAYED IT ALL THE TIME HERE I'M 34 YRS OLD TOO. I STILL FIND PEACE WITHIN THIS SONG, N I'M LOOKING FOR THAT DAY I SEE G O D TOO. ALONG WITH MY GRANDMA, AUNTIES, UNCLES, FRIENDS THAT IS IN THAT BETTER PLACE.

how do you dislike this song? tell me, HOW??? i'm 13 and i want to know who would dislike such a graceful song as this one??????!!!!!!!!!!!!! erg, i'm angry now.
Walter and Tramaine Hawkins were in their early 20's when they wrote and first recorded this song. What a great legacy they have given us! God bless to all.
I have loved this song since I was a child. I couldn't wait to get to the church house, lol. All I wanted to know was Angie going to sing. Thank God for the music ministry.
I don't listen to much gospel. I don't listen to near as much as I should. But I have always enjoyed this IMMENSELY. It always makes me feel as if my soul is charged up with electricity or something... Contemporary gospel doesn't hold a candle to this right here.
Every choir in Brooklyn NY used to sing this song back in the 70"s...
I can remember marching up the aisle with Greater Bibleway signing..
Special Shout outs to the Greater BibleWay Temple in Brooklyn N.Y (Bishop Huie L. Rodgers), Washington Temple (The Late Bishop F.D Washington), Pilgrim Cathedral (Bishop Roy E. Brown), Universal Temple in Brooklyn (Bishop Landon Penn) & Institutional Church Of God In Christ (The Late Bishop Carl E. Williams Sr)

but even though the commerical brought me here i now LOVE this song! beautiful gospel song! and i hope and pray that when God call me home i can "go up yonder" 2 b wit him.
I was listening to a gospel radio station in Chicago this morning.....THIS SONG CAME ON AND I HAD TO PULL OVER, LISTEN TO THE MEANING OF THIS SONG & I PRAISED GOD......I PRAISED HIM, I PRAISED HIM, I PRAISED HIM.....OVER & OVER AGAIN.. I felt the HOLY SPIRIT all over my soul, mind & spirit....IT JUST FEELS SOMETIMES THAT I CAN'T PRAISE HIM ENOUGH FOR WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR ME......but that is where the real stuff comes in at.......REBUKE SATAN IN THE HOLY NAME OF JESUS AND KEEP IT MOVIN'
This song always brings tears to my eyes what a song this is one great and i mean great version of this song they do'nt sing or make music like this anymore, anywhere.. some of these top RNB singers of today can take a lesson from this song, because it comes from the heart.....
Edwin Hawkin's masterpiece -- his arrangement and brilliant piano playing and orchestra direction on this performance are unequaled in the world of gospel music, in my humble opinion. And Tramaine's vocals defy comment -- never heard anything better in my life. One of those songs which you can hear a thousand times and never get tired of. Oh, and did I mention the best choir on earth?? Stunning.
This song mkaes me cry but they are tears of joy because I think about all my love one's that are gone and I know they are in a beeter place right now! I know they are looking down on me and one day we will meet again, until then save me a seat in heaven!
for me as a sinner and to have lost loved ones whom i cant seem to say good bye to this songs will make any sinner want to change for the better.thanks for sharing

I don't listen to much gospel. I don't listen to near as much as I should. But I have always enjoyed this IMMENSELY. It always makes me feel as if my soul is charged up with electricity or something... Contemporary gospel doesn't hold a candle to this right here.

Wow I didn't know this song was this old. People are right when they say the older choir gospel songs are the best.
bluebunny4ya 6 months ago 8
Edwin Hawkin's masterpiece -- his arrangement and brilliant piano playing and orchestra direction on this performance are unequaled in the world of gospel music, in my humble opinion. And Tramaine's vocals defy comment -- never heard anything better in my life. One of those songs which you can hear a thousand times and never get tired of. Oh, and did I mention the best choir on earth?? Stunning.
